I'm all for letting your dew out. (That sounded far creepier and strange on screen than it did in my head). What I mean is - today I'm talking about letting your makeup veer more on the glowy side of things than matte. I like matte makeup, but sometimes you just want to look healthy - something that matte formulas cannot really achieve. You may be thinking I'll be focusing purely on bases for this but I'm actually going ahead and doing the whole hog - face, eyes and lips - I've got you covered.
Limit your powder. Yes, I know, this seems probably the most obvious step of all, but it has to be said. If you want things looking less matte, either use no powder (if your skin is drier) or limit it only to areas which truly need it (if you're more prone to ending up with skin looking like an oil slick by bedtime).
Use cream-based products. Again, like the powder point, you want to keep to cream-based formulas if glowy's where you wanna go. Most of us use liquid foundations, so here I'm mainly talking cream eyeshadow, blush, bronze, highlight - basically anything remotely creamy - this is where you bring it out.
Glitter, glitter, glitter. Maybe not to everyone's tastes - I'll even admit that I can only really take glitter in small doses - but in situation where you want your face looking healthy and full of life, shimmer (or glitter - depending on your preference or bravery) can really help to illuminate your face, if applied in the right places.
Gloss up those lips. Put those matte lipsticks away - here is where you want a glossy (or at least a natural sheen) finish to the lips.
Keep things minimalistic. With glowy skin conjures up the idea of youth and vitality - so to me it makes sense to keep things minimalistic in order to maintain that young, fresh look. Even if you are young, sometimes an overload of makeup can really drag your face down and make you look way beyond your years. Another plus of this is also lasting power. If you're using a lot of creamy, glossy products without the use of too much powder to set things in place, things may get a little slip-slidey and before you know it your foundation will be gathering at your jawline. Keeping your makeup minimal when going glowy will hopefully prevent this.
Do you like the glowy look? What are you tips for achieving it?
