Beauty Brand Favourites: Maybelline

Another round of 'Beauty Brand Favourites' today and once again I'm on the drugstore hype with me whittling down a list of my top products from Maybelline - anyone else who cannot write that without wanting to sing the tagline?

The Falsies Volum' Express Mascara - (unfortunately not included in the above photo as it was recently part of my Empties post) - Probably my favourite of all favourites when it comes to this brand. Out of all drugstore offerings I've tried, it's all about this one as far as I'm concerned. I got inspiration to buy this from many a beauty blogger and I'm so glad I listened up on this one. It's got the whole 'adds-volume-and-length-without-clumps' thing down and once worked in a little (I often find mascaras take a few uses before they do their best) makes such a dramatic difference to my lashes. I genuinely find this to be a mascara that actually gives the 'false-lash effect' that so many others claim to do but fall along the way somehow.

24 Hour Colour Tattoo Gel-Cream Eyeshadows (or Colour Tattoos for short) - Another one of Maybelline's most hyped-up products of all time and one that nearly everyone seems to own at least one shade of. A post is currently in the works about two new shades I've picked up of a new range, but I also own another three shades of the original line (two which I love, one I don't love as much - unless I particularly fancy going for that 'just been punched in the face' look). These are perfect in so many different ways. Firstly, they can be used alone as a simple, fuss-free wash of colour when you're a little short of time.  But secondly, they can also be used as a base for powder shadows, therefore acting not just as a shadow but also as a primer, keeping everything in place and crease-free all day. The multi-usefulness of these make them a firm staple in my makeup collection and one that I always find myself going back to whatever eye look I choose to do.

Babylips Lipbalm - I remember when these first came out - I think sometime last year? - and how cray cray everyone and their dog went about them. Considering when you strip these of their branding they're simply lip balms, I considered the whole thing a little ridiculous. However, once I caved and gave them a go I was actually pretty impressed at how they managed to give my lips some serious hydration and a pop of colour at the same time. I also found there to be a distinct difference between each shade, which usually appears hard to come by in these type of products.

Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara. I mentioned in my brow post that I seem to have got my routine down when it comes to my eyebrows. Pencil in one hand, this in the other. This basically does what it says on the tin - a mascara for your brows to keep them in place for the rest of the day. I initially had this in a 'Blond' shade which I liked, though considering I use a pencil to fill in my brows, I found myself questioning one day when it was close to the end of its life whether I actually needed the tint that it provided me with. Concluding that really the only purpose I wanted was for it to set my brows, I repurchased a transparent shade and am much happier with it.

Colour Sensational High Shine Lip Glosses - I was reading Anna's blog a while back and saw how she mentioned this as being one of her personal favourites and one that she thought rivalled Clarins. With a wedding coming up at the time that saw me being a bridesmaid, I was looking for a gloss that I could layer over a nude lipstick to give me that natural 'my lips but glossier' look and her post came at just the right timing. Off to Boots I headed and out I came with a 'Cashmere Rose' shade and I was so happy with it. It's completely non-sticky and applies evenly on the lips without glopping at all. It wore off nicely and was a breeze to reapply later in the day. I'm most definitely eyeing up some more shades as we speak. Whilst I'm not a regular lipgloss wearer, when I do, these will be what I crack out.
