New To My Makeup Bag - The L'Oreal Edition

So just yesterday I accidently fell into my local Boots branch and that whole thing happened again where they physically forced me against my will to put some items in my basket, pushed me in the direction of the tills and then my debit card accidently slipped into the machine and hey presto - a purchase was made. But hey, it's done now so how's about I tell you guys all about it?

I'm theming this 'The L'Oreal Edition' as in fact the total three items I bought came from their brand as part of a '3 for 2' the had running. I needed a new base, a new concealer and replacement lip liner and it just so happened that they all fell under the 'L'Oreal' beauty umbrella. First though - let's talk foundation. I've been loving my Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude for some time now (I'm nearly finished my second consecutive bottle - I love it that much) but I felt it was time for a change (the grass is not always greener, yanno?) and so picked up a bottle of the highly-coveted True Match Foundation. This has been hyped-up so much over the last year or so (most likely even longer) - with many bloggers/vloggers/just ordinary people in everyday life giving this the solid thumbs up so of course I've been curious to see what all the fuss is about. On paper it seems right up my street - a not too matte, nor too dewy base with decent coverage that just manages to unify things perfectly. Will it match, or even beat, my love for Rimmel's offering? Watch this space - I'll be sure to let you know...

I was also on the hunt for another tube of the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in the shade 'Fair' but after a throughout delve into every Boots and Superdrug there is in my hometown I could not track a single bottle of it and after a little brose online this too seems the case - boo! I don't know what's going on or why that particular shade is completely out of stock - but I desperately needed a replacement so in the end opted for a tube of the matching concealer for the above base - the L'Oreal True Match Concealer. Upon a few swatches against a tester of one of the other shades of Collection's offering, I gathered the two appear pretty similar in formulation and texture - a nice creamy cover-up that is light and easily blendable for under the eyes, but still has a decent coverage to deal with pretty much anything blemish-wise on the face. I'm hoping from this that they compare pretty well on the skin also and I can get by with this until (hopefully) my shade in the Lasting Perfection is back again. Unless of course *whispers* I actually prefer it - shock horror...

Finally, to complete my 3 for 2 I suddenly remembered I'm close to finishing my L'Oreal Infallible Lip Liner in the shade 'Always Toasted' so picked up another one of those for when my current one does finally bite the dust. I really do love the formulation and shade of this. The texture is just waxy enough to stay out and do it's main job of keeping things defined and any lipstick applied on top where it is, while the shade is just the ideal mix of pale pink with the slightest beige undertone that matches to my natural lip colour perfectly and is great for days where I just want to define my natural shape without actually putting any colour on there.

And that is all I picked up from my last jaunt to the Mothership! Have you given any of these a go, or have you perhaps been eyeing one (or more?) up for a while and I've been just the enabler you've been searching for? Let me know your thoughts! I am now officially all L'Oreal-ed out (well, at least until my next trip)...

  1. I literally love to death my L'Oreal foundation! I even think they do the best ones you can find among highstreet kind of brands. Just look at the variety of colours and shades. It is quite impressive, isn't it?
True Match Concealer does an amazing job covering blemishes or any other imperfections. My lifesaver in a little bottle, haha :D

    1. I know of a lot of others who love the L'Oreal bases too! I think that's partly why I decided to give one a go in the end. So far I'm really liking both of these - hopefully be popping up a full review soon!
