If you've been reading round these parts for some time now - you'll know the deal when it comes to me and Real Techniques. I am a massive fan of their brushes - so much so that my personal stash is basically exclusively comprised of their tools alone - and whenever there's a new launch (or five) - I'm all over it. So, when I got wind of a good few new products being added to the line-up, I knew I had to invest in them in my next trip to The Mothership (a.k.a Boots). I know, I know - I have a problem...
First off, there are two new brush sets which I spotted and instantly snapped up. The first being the Highlight and Glow Set. As I've said many, many times before, I am all about that highlight life right now (much like everyone else) and so this kit was always going to be on the top of my shopping list. Inside you get three brushes - an oldie but a goodie and also two that are completely exclusive to that set only. The Multi-Task Brush is a firm favourite of mine (I already have two in my collection from other sets) and so I am more than happy to be adding another to my stash. As the name suggests, it is a great brush for pretty much everything and anything - powder, blush, bronzer - and comes in real handy for whether you're apply a product or simply want to blend it out. The other two exclusive brushes I am really excited about, as they are basically replicas of other brushes from Real Techniques - but in miniature form. And who doesn't love a good mini, eh? The first - the Targeted Blending Brush - looks to be much like the Cheek Brush, but about a quarter of the size. I can imagine this working really well when it comes to highlighter and maybe even contour - and as it's quite a densely-packed brush, I picture cream textures being its best friend. Finally, the Compact Fan Brush. A tiny, small version of their regular Fan Brush - isn't it so cute? I love applying my powder highlighter with a fan brush, so if I fancy being even more precise with it and really pack on the glow, or simply want to get in there around the smaller areas (like the brow bone), I think this'll be perfect.
Next up, another brush set. I know it sounds excessive, but I already knew I wanted both of these kits and when I go into Boots and saw that Real Techniques were on a 'buy one, get one half price' offer - there was no stopping me. This one is called the Multitask Set and as the name implies, contains three brushes all geared towards being handy for a multitude of makeup jobs. This time, the whole trio is completely exclusive to this set only, which I personally love as it means that I can't feel guilty about adding yet more brushes to my already-rather-extensive collection. They're all different, ok? Inside this compilation you get the Multitask Face Brush, which looks a lot like the Powder Brush, but slightly smaller and with an angled cut and from first glance, I think this may just become my new favourite brush for bronzing up the face. There's also the Multitask Cheek Brush, which looks almost like a cross between the Contour Brush and the Setting Brush. It's got the same round, dense shape as the former; but with the tapered finish of the latter and I cannot wait to give it a go. Finally - the Multitask Eye Brush. I am probably most excited about this one of the whole three, as I think this will be great as a crease brush. I currently have nothing like it in my stash and am all for trying new eye brushes - especially for adding colour and definition to the outer corner and crease - and I think I'll be cracking this out, pretty much ASAP.
Moving onto sponges and when I first saw the #MeetTheMiracles campaign, I knew it was something I wanted to get behind and try some of the contents of. I'm sure if you're as big of a beauty fanatic as myself, you'll have heard (and possibly tried) of the Miracle Complexion Sponge from the brand. Ever since its release a few years back as possible the first budget alternative to the classic BeautyBlender, it has grown and grown in popularity and become a firm favourite for many - myself included. I think it's always been hopeful that at some point, they'd expand the range into various other shapes and sizes and they finally have. There's two new additions to the regular range, which I plumped for and am vey excited to try out. The first are the Miracle Mini Eraser Sponges. Just like the original sponge, they've kept to their classic colour-coding and so these two little sponges are purple, for Eyes. Again, aren't they adorable? Of the two, these are the one's I'm most eager to try and can see integrating into my routine the easiest. They are basically miniature versions of the Miracle Complexion Sponge, so work in the same way - damp for liquids and creams, dry for powder - but as they're smaller, are open to a whole new range of makeup tasks. In terms of application, I can imagine them being great for blending in concealer or applying powder (or 'baking') smaller areas around the face - especially under the eyes. Used dry, they also claim to be able to 'erase' makeup mistakes, such as falldown or overapplication. I also picked up the Miracle Sculpting Sponge. Again, this is colour-coded (this time, for 'Finishing') and I have to admit, I was at first a little unsure over purchasing this one. I've only just properly got to grips with the whole concept of a makeup sponge in general, nevermind one with such a distinct shape, but I'm all up for trying something new so I'm just gonna give it a go. From the name, I'm assuming it's been specifically designed for contour and highlight and general shaping of the face so that's exactly what I'm going to attempt to employ it for and *fingers crossed* we'll get along. There's only one way to find out...
