Polish Pick: New Year's Eve Nails

It's become quite the tradition to showcase just what I was rocking on my nails on New Year's Eve, hasn't it? I did it a couple of NYE's ago here and again last year here so it feels only right I continue by doing the same for the year's festivities too. As expected - it's mega-sparkly and full of glitter  - but you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way. It was New Year's Eve after all...

I wanted a rose gold theme for the year's New Year Nails - and I mean proper rose gold, as opposed to copper. I wanted a more pink-toned look rather than orange-y and I feel like I achieved that fairly well. I started things off using the Maybelline Super Stay Nail Polish in 'Rose Veil' - a gorgeous metallic rose gold. If you're a regular round these parts, you'll know of my love for this whole nail polish range. They are amongst my favourites from the drugstore, so I just had to opt for this shade to use as my base. This applied evenly in two, thin coats and gave a smooth pinky sheen to the nails. Alone this looked stunning, but with it being New Year's and me generally being a bit of a glitter-addict - I had to go a step further and add some full-on sparkle. For that I went straight to the Essie Luxe Effects Nail Polish in 'A Cut Above'. This is one of my favourite glitters in my collection and especially for pink-toned looks, I can't resist bringing it out. For a glitter nail polish, this has surprisingly good coverage and delivers a shedload of the stuff in just one light layer. It's got a mix of smaller and larger sparkles and adds a tonne of texture as well as shimmer and shine too. I opted for the 'standard' all-over coating as opposed to glitter tips or ombre as I fancied something a little more uniformed and I was super happy with the end result. It's pretty, glittery and very 'girly' and I felt made for the perfect match for my LBD I was wearing that night. Cause you gotta get that pop of colour in there somehow...
