Top 10 Spring Lip Colours

For possibly the hundredth time so far this year, I'm rambling on about Spring once again round these parts. I know, I know - but with it finally seemingly on the horizon (although the breezier, duller weather outside right now may serve to disprove that), I am fully in 'Spring' mode and ready and raring to change things up for a new season. I love when the weather starts to get gradually warmer and brighter again and I also love switching up my makeup to go alongside that so with that in mind, just like I did when Autumn was approaching last year here, I'm gonna do a little rundown of my top ten lip colours. Let's go...

SLEEK MATTE ME LIP CREAM IN 'BITTERSWEET' - Starting off with a nude-ish option - but with a slight twist to it. This is the latest addition to my Sleek Matte Me collection I've got going on (I bought it just after the two newest shade additions to the range that I featured in my last post) and I am so glad I finally did so. A neutral tone, but with this pinky, coral undertone that just perks things up and gives it this fresh, pretty, Spring-like feel and gives a nod to the season, but still in a very natural way. A lovely powdery matte finish - that's still lightweight and comfortable - and lasts fairly well throughout the day too.

NYX SOFT MATTE LIP CREAM IN 'ZURICH' - This one follows on nicely from the above as it yet another 'Spring' nude-ish shade and again, a liquid lippie format. Compared to the Sleek Matte Me's, the Soft Matte Lip Creams from NYX are a lot less of a 'traditional' formula in the sense that they don't dry down as matte, matte and so while don't last as long, they are more comfortable and easy to wear and I love this colour too. It leans a tad more pinky rather than peachy/coral like the above but still does that same thing of really brightening up the complexion and bringing those Spring vibes, without being too 'out there'.

BOURJOIS ROUGE EDITION SOUFFLE DE VELVET IN 'FUSCHIAMALLOW' - I talked about this one here earlier this month when I 'Shopped My Stash' - a.k.a. listed some makeup items that I want to start getting more use out of - and I said in that very post that I was including it mainly due to the fact that as a more Spring/Summer product/shade, I was hoping to start introducing it into my makeup routine again very soon and so it only felt right to give it a cheeky mention here again, eh? This has again a similar set-up to the previous two, but this time - it's not a standard liquid lipstick. These do not dry down at all and stay on the lips just as juicy as they apply. They're not overly glossy though - which i like - and instead just feel balmy on the lips. I love going for slightly sheenier lip products in the Spring when I want some much-needed hydration or simply a fresher finish and this bright, fuschia pink (certainly lives up to the name) is always a good one to reach for.

SLEEK MATTE ME LIP CREAM IN 'FRENCH FANCY' - Another Sleek Matte Me, but this time not only is this one of the most recent shade additions to my stash, but it's a new hue to the range in general. This bright, candy pink is one of three that Sleek have brought out for this Spring/Summer and of them all, this is probably my favourite. It's right up my street colour-wise and I can picture this being a staple shade of mine throughout the entirety of the upcoming warmer months...

NYX SOFT MATTE LIP CREAM IN 'INSTANBUL' - If a paler pink is more your kinda thang, look no further than this shade of the SMLC. What I love about this one is while it does sit on the more 'Barbie' pink-esque end of the spectrum, it's not too blue-based and still has the touch of warmth to it that keeps it fairly flattering to wear. I find with this one you can sheer the colour out by applying less or buffing it in slightly with your finger to make it even more wearable - very versatile indeed

TANYA BURR COSMETICS MATTE LIP IN 'RHUBARB AND CUSTARD' - I bought this one more towards the end of Summer last year so I'm super excited to crack it out properly this year. Tanya's liquid lipsticks are really rather awesome (we all know how much I adore the shade 'Martha Moo') but for the warmer months, I think this one is going to become equally a firm favourite. The colour of this is just stunning - super bright, almost neon-esque coral - and I find you can layer this onto your lips and it instantly makes you look more revived and Spring/Summer ready. I find you need a couple of layers to achieve full opacity, but oh my is it worth it.

L'OREAL COLOUR RICHE LIPSTICK IN 'BLAKE'S DELICATE ROSE' - As for actual, proper lipstick, lipsticks that scream out for Spring - you cannot go wrong with this one. Of them all, this is definitely the most girly, 'Barbie' pink of them all - even though how it looks in the bullet may not imply that at all. The 'delicate' tagline is pretty misleading too - on the lips it certainly packs a punch and delivers a really vivid flush of pink. It's still relatively easy to pull off though and the moisturising formula and sheerer finish helps in making it still wearable.

BOURJOIS COLOURBOOST LIP CRAYON IN 'PEACH ON THE BEACH' - I remember in a video of Zoe's (a.k.a. Zoella) years and years ago she talked about this lip crayon from Bourjois and pretty much instantly, I went out and bought it for myself. I loved it - a lot - and still to this day it remains one of my firm favourites in the Spring/Summer lip department. It does pretty much exactly what it says on the tin - a pretty, peachy lip colour with a really lovely glossy texture that gives the lips a nice sheen and keeps them all hydrated throughout the day too. And it's easy-peasy to apply - you quite literally scribble it on and call it a day.

MUA SWEET SHEEN LIP BALM IN 'PEACH DREAM' - If you're a lip balm lover, I'd point you in the direction of this shade from MUA. As the name suggests, this is a lovely straight-up peach shade but being a lip balm (well known for having super sheer pigmentation), it's the easiest shade of all of these in this post to rock. Therefore, if you want an easy, 'throw it on without having to think about it' product or simply want to ease yourself in gently into the Spring lip colours this season - this is a great 'beginners' option.

TANYA BURR COSMETICS LIP GLOSS IN 'I FOUND NEMO' - Last, but definitely by no means least - I had to throw a lip gloss of some kind in here somewhere, didn't I? If you're a regular round these parts, you'll know that for the most part, I'm not a huge lip gloss gal but if there's a time when I do tend to reach for them - it's the Spring/Summer when I fancy something that little more moisturising, forgiving and just easier to maintain throughout the day. Ain't nobody got time for top ups when you're melting in the heat. And more often than not, the one's I go straight for are again, the ones from Tanya's range. These are pretty awesome lipglosses - balmy, not at all thick nor gloopy and really decently pigmented - and my favourite shade has to be this one. A coral tone (sensing a theme yet?) with the tiniest hint of shimmer to it that just adds to the pretty, juicy effect. What more could you want, eh?
