My Current Brow Routine

Though I have mentioned the products I've been using on my brows here and there in various places over the past few months, I haven't actually done a 'proper' Brow Routine-type update, where I've listed off every single thing in order and in full detail for ages and so that's exactly what I'm gonna do today for you lovely lot. Right now, I have to admit that I'm rather pleased with my brow set-up that I've got going on and the way it which things are working for me and my rather-darn-awful natural set and while in the future I can hopefully foresee things switching up (such as maybe looking into getting my brows 'microbladed' - seriously, I'm tempted) for now this selection of products are doing pretty alright. Let's delve right on in, shall we?

THE COLOUR - NYX Micro Brow Pencils in 'Ash Brown' and 'Espresso' - These fab little things have fast become one of my favourite drugstore offerings and now I've started using them to fill in my brows, I really cannot imagine things changing anytime soon. I used to use a combination of a L'Oreal Brow Artiste Pencil and the infamous Soap and Glory 'Archery' and since realising how much more I preferred the more precise set-up of the latter, I went on the hunt to find an alternative that came in more colours so I could use it to fill in my brows entirely - and I found this. I find the ashy tones of the 'Ash Brown' and the deeper, slightly warmer undertone of the 'Espresso' to work together to create my perfect brow match and they really are quite the Dream Team. I can create my usual brow look that's super full and bold, but the tiny nib makes it easier to make things slightly more natural-ish with the more hair-like strokes and it also makes things super crisp and super-sharp too. LOVE.

THE SET - L'Oreal Brow Artist Plumper in 'Medium/Dark' - Personally, I love a good brow gel. Not only for locking my brow hairs down, but also in my case, for adding some much-needed colour, depth and dimension to my naturally sparse and fair brows. I have always loved the concept of the likes of Benefit's Gimme Brow - that not only set the brows, but are tinted to add colour and have tiny little fibres suspended within the formula to add thickness - but for now, I'm not so keen on the price-tag, so looked into alternatives and came across this 'dupe'. I obviously do not know how well it compares, but for me it does a great job and I now cannot do my brows without it. It lives up fully to all three of its main claims and for some reason, lasts for ages too. Not that I'm complaining, though...

THE SCULPT - Rimmel Lasting Finish Concealer in 'Porcelain' - A concealer may at first seem like a strange addition to a 'Brow Routine', but hear me out on this one. Picture the scene - you're filling in your brows, everything's going well and then suddenly you make a mistake. That's where your concealer comes in. Simply take some of this on a small, flat brush (I personally love the Real Techniques 'Detailer' Brush) and carefully go over where you've gone wrong and you're back to square one again. It's like your own little magic makeup eraser. I also just generally love keeping some of this stuff nearby on hand at the very end, whether I've messed up or now, to sometimes go around the brow lightly to properly sculpt it out and give the edges more of a crisp, sharp appearance. It'a amazing how much of a difference it makes.

THE HIGHLIGHT - Rimmel Brow This Way Brow Highlighter in 'Gold Shimmer' - Finally - a brow highlighter. I used to be pretty cynical of these kinda things - thinking for the most part, you could just take some of your regular glow-giver on a smaller, more precise brush and sweep it under the brow bone. And while I still agree that to be the case, there's something about a specially-designed one for the ol' brows that just appeals to me. This handy little crayon is just ideal for quite literally drawing on and blending out quickly with your finger. Not really any need for a brush, quick and simple and just as effective. I also tend to find the formulas, colours and textures of these kind of products to just work better for the brow area - with the texture generally lighter and smoother and the hues less overly noticeable and obvious. Just what you want to make that brow bone pop. Lovely.
