Shampoos For Blondies...

You know that whole saying where it's like 'Blondes have more fun'? I'd definitely agree with that as I love having blonde hair. I've been having some much-needed lightness, brightness and just general blonde-ness added into my hair in some way, shape or form for a good few years now and I now kinda can't see myself going back. At the moment, I've got more of an ombre/balayage situation going on where I've got some of natural ashy, mousey dark blonde/light brown roots going on before it goes into full-on blonde and I basically adore it. While it is pretty easy to maintain at home (seeing as I go to the salon to have all the cuts, colours and all that kind of stuff) and especially since it was professionally done - one thing I do like to do it cater my haircare routine to my bright blonde tresses...

One step I've been fully faithful to for basically ever since I first got my hair blonded-up in some way is - purple shampoo. Ahh, good ol' purple shampoo. If you're unsure exactly what I mean, purple shampoo is basically essential if you're a blondie. Purple and Yellow (a.k.a. the natural colour of blonde) are opposite on the colour wheel so by using a violet pigment on your blonde tresses, you can 'tone' your hair and basically remove any orangey, brassey tones and make your blonde hair much brighter, fresher and just generally much 'nicer'. Nowadays, I tend to use it far less regularly than I used to (I have found that since going to a good salon, my blonde hair seems to look good for longer, if ya get what I mean?) but it's still an absolute staple in my routine and I would never be without it. Over the years, I've experimented with a tonne of different brands but right now, I am fully obsessed with the Lee Stafford Bleach Blondes Shampoo. It's fairly affordable (£6.99 if you're wondering) and is super accessible in the drugstore too and not only that but - it is fab. It's super, super pigmented and is quite scary when you squeeze it out of the tube - but fear not - as that's is exactly what makes it so darn awesome. You literally need the tiniest amount and as it is so rich in purple colour - it does such a good job at really knocking out those brassy undertones. While some purple toning shampoos can leave your hair feeling (and maybe looking) a little bit parched, this one actually makes my hair feeling rather soft, smooth and shiny and also smelling pretty yummy too. What more could you want?

If you're after simply a shampoo (and conditioner) that's catered solely towards Blondes - that doesn't necessarily tone it like a purple one, but just supposedly makes it look much nicer - recently, I have been using - and obsessing - over the OGX Sunkissed Blonde Lemon Highlights Shampoo and also the matching Conditioner aswell. It's pretty well-known that lemon (or any citrus-based formula) is great for making blonde appear brighter, lighter and just more vivid in general and so this range instantly appealed to me when I was browsing the aisles of Boots trying to decide what Shampoo and Conditioners to pick up to replace my current nearly-empty duo at home. If you've been reading round these parts for some time, you'll most likely know that I am a big fan of the haircare from OGX and so I was pretty hopeful that this collection would follow suit and thankfully - I was not wrong. OGX is such an awesome brand for offering awesome, high quality haircare that doesn't break the bank and this range is no exception. Not only does the pair of them leave my hair feeling and looking super-soft, shiny and smooth; it also really does seem to make a difference to my blonde hair. I don't know if it is just me but my my blonde looks so much brighter and bolder after just one wash of this stuff and it really does appear to almost 'shimmer' and catch the light far more. I just love this range and I can definitely see myself repurchasing once they both come to an end...
