I've really tried this year to up my game when it comes to my eyeshadow and eye looks. I've been trying more palettes, different techniques, styles and colour combinations and I've also really tried to improve the photos that I take too - both in terms of the quality and also the set-up. Though I'm still got plenty of room for improvement, I've created some looks this year that I'm quite proud of. I can see growth and am just so eager for that to continue next year, fingers crossed! Obviously, I've done plenty of others that I haven't snapped for the 'gram, but for the most part my most creative looks I have captured! So, I thought I'd use today's post as an opportunity to showcase some of personal favourites, the palette/s I used and also perhaps the inspiration behind them...
Top Row (Left To Right):
- This was the first look I did with my BPerfect Carnival XL Pro Palette and I was really pleased with how it came out. I love the pink/purple/blue colour scheme!
- I was so pleased with this look I created with the BPerfect X Jah Clientele Palette. The shimmer I used on the lid is perhaps one of my favourite shadows in my collection. It's such a gorgeous pink/gold/green that's so pigmented and reflective and I think it just works so well with the rosey, berry tones in the crease.
- One of the looks I created the first time round with my beloved Beauty Bay X MmmMitchell Palette - this monochromatic pink look was definitely one of my favourites.
- Another look using the Beauty Bay X MmmMitchell Palette - this time, a dramatic pink halo eye, with a pop of blue of the lower lash line! I was tempted to do an all out pink halo, but I think adding the blue underneath just helped to switch things up a little and I really liked it!
- Now, this look just had to be included here as I like to think of this one as a proper 'turning point' this year. It was one of the first times I'd really started upping my photo-taking skills and quality in an attempt to make my eye look photos better. Also, I really pushed myself with the look itself - one of my first proper rainbow eye looks! Once again I created this using the Beauty Bay MmmMitchell Palette and I was so pleased with the finished result. I kind of just winged it and made it up as I went along and though at times I was a little apprehensive, we got there in the end I think!
- This look was my first using the new BPerfect Carnival 3 Love Tahiti Palette and it was also a recreation of a MakeMeUpMissa look that she did herself with that palette. I knew instantly I had to give it a try myself and though it's nowhere near as perfect and polished as the original, I was pretty pleased with how it came out! I love the combination of the warm orangey tones in the crease and the more cool-toned purple on the lid with the slight shimmery finish - and the pop of acid green in the inner corner just adds that extra something!
- Another look I created using my BPerfect Carnival 3 Love Tahiti Palette - this time, a cool-toned blue/green/purple combo! I love how the deep blue shimmery lid goes into these rich, grungy greens in the crease and I'm glad I stuck to the rounded shape with this look as it definitely works best. Similar to the pink halo eye, I was tempted to just run the same blue or green tones underneath, but last minute I decided to go for purple and I was really pleased I did!
- I was kinda jealous of everyone using the new Beauty Bay Book Of Magic Palette and creating all these stunning blue/green/purple hybrid looks - so I decided to make use of what I already had to create something similar! Again, I used my BPerfect Carnival 3 Love Tahiti Palette (as it had all the types of colours and textures I wanted and I also thought it'd be a good excuse to create another look using it). I just picked out all the colours which I thought matched up the best to those in the Book of Magic and used them to create this look here!
- I was really inspired by MakeMeUpMissa once again, as she created a look combining Pink and Green - two colours which though I always think look lovely together, I have never tried to as they are opposite on the colour wheel and so don't easily blend into each other, without going muddy. However, Missa made me finally decided to give it a go and this style of keeping the inner half of the eye pink and the outer half green I think really worked to marry the colours together, but without having to blend them into each other! Again,k I used my BPerfect Carnival 3 Love Tahiti Palette as it had all the colours I needed and I really wanted to create another look using this beauty...
- I finally decided to pick up the Beauty Bay Sunset Horizons Palette and the Book of Magic Palette after all - and this was one look I created using the former, 'Sunset Horizons'! I knew as soon as I saw the deep blue/purple shimmer in the palette that I just had to create a dramatic smokey eye using it, along with all of the gorgeous rich purple mattes - and this was the finished result!
- As I mentioned, I also picked up the Beauty Bay Book of Magic Palette and I was equally impressed! The middle shade in the palette, 'Crystal', a green/brown/purple multi chrome instantly caught my eye and I knew I had to create a look focusing entirely on it. I decided to layer it on top of a purple matte in the palette in order to pull out more of the mauvey tones in this stunning multi chrome and paired with the turquoise mattes in the crease - I really like how this look came out!
- Last, but certainly by no means least - I just had to include one of my most recent looks I created and feature don my Instagram. And, naturally - it's a festive one! Red and Green are another set of colours that I always want to pair together in a look (especially around this time of year) but again, as they sit so opposite on the colour wheel you have to be careful because they won't blend effortlessly into each other! So, I decided to go for the same style I did for my Pink and Green look - this time, the inner half of my eye was Green and the outer half, Red! And because it's Christmas, I just had to use a deep, warm bronze on the lid! I used my BPerfect Carnival 3 Love Tahiti Palette for this look and I really love how it came out - super festive and Christmassey!
