Our Community And The Zoella Beauty Launch

I'm not really sure what this post is going to be if I'm honest. I guess I just felt inspired by the events of Thursday night and felt the need to document them - why not?

If you didn't already know (where have you been?) Thursday was a big day for the beauty blogger world, and one that I felt marked a milestone for our community. Zoe Sugg, or Zoe, or Zoella launched her first product range Thursday night. Whilst I obviously wasn't actually there, I did stay glued to my phone for what felt like the whole night staying updated with the in flood of tweets and photos from other bloggers, and from what I've seen/heard it was a lovely event which really showed not only how loved Zoe is in the blog/YouTube community, but also how truly tight-knit said community is. Some have been around since the whole concept of blogging began, whilst I've only just joined, but having been an avid follower for several years I still feel incredibly proud of how the online world has progressed and what it has achieved since I stumbled across it back then.

Zoe was actually the first blogger I found, when scrolling through my 'Recommended for You' list at the side of  a video I was watching. I believe the video was one of her infamous Primark Hauls when she bought a monkey onesie and proceeded to have a little boogie in it on camera. I watched it all the way through, and then I watched another, and another and the rest is history. Through Zoe I found Louise, and then Fleur, Tanya, Estée, the list goes on. In summary, Zoe was what made me fall in love with this community, and I feel that her launch last week really shows how much she is valued within it.

Obviously we cannot all suddenly expect to follow the same path as Zoe and other beauty bloggers who have gone onto such things simply because we started out doing the same thing as her. There is a lot of us all in the same blogging boat and increasingly more are joining us so it would be unrealistic to think that everyone would be given the same opportunities. It does however I feel serve as a reminder for the fact that in life in general, even the smallest of things can open up the largest of doors.

I think we can all assume that Zoe did not plan for this all to happen when she started her blog 5 years ago, as would any of us. Before the blogging world blew up, it was more likely seen as a medium to express yourself and document your thoughts as opposed to a way of hitting the big time and becoming a modern celebrity. This is why I said at the beginning of this post about her launch being a milestone, as with others such as the Tanya Burr Cosmetics launch last year. They show the progression of blogging and vlogging from something that we do in our bedrooms to something that can be built up for some as a full-time career. They also spread the word about our community, and both of these points plus any others I have mentioned previously support my feelings about this network today. It has become such an exciting place over the last few years, and with recent events I feel very happy to have picked now as the time to become an active part in it.

I'm very much looking forward to trying out some of Zoe's products when I next go shopping and I cannot wait to see what she goes on to do next!
