Bronzed Eyes

When watching a Tanya Burr video not that long ago I saw her explain how sometimes she likes to use NARS Laguna as eyeshadow. I, expectedly, felt inspired and also intrigued about how this would work to put a warmer toned brown originally meant to be used as bronzer/contour on your eyes as eyeshadow. I'm typically prone to choose more cooler toned browns when picking out eyeshadow as I find these to be most flattering and when matte, make a nice, natural effect that I couldn't imagine warmer tones to give. How wrong I was...

I tried this technique out a few days ago using my Rimmel Natural Bronzer, which is one of my favourites at a drugstore price point. Whilst it was obviously not identical to what was used by Tanya herself, I find with the majority of matte bronzers that they typically come in standard shades across most brands and so I thought this looked quite a close match. Using my holy grail eyeshadow brush, the Base Shadow of course, I started applying a thin layer to my lids - I wanted to ease myself in gently yanno. As I built up the pigment I was amazed at how different my eyes looked - but in a good way. I then using the same brush blended in some more under my eyes and I really did love the result. My eyes were left looking - as expected - very warm, and whilst some may say this look seems more appropriate for Spring/Summer months, I think as we go into cooler weather the addition of some warmth into your face really does brighten up your complexion.

I was proved wrong again...
