Contouring's been a big area of discussion for a long while in the beauty industry. Ever since the arrival of the Kardashian's and the popularity of contouring them and various other celebs brought, it's been on the makeup menus for many (including myself). However, as of late I've been switching things up a tad, and perhaps inspired by the beauty-spin 'Strobing' has put us all in - I've been doing things a little differently...
Going against the grain of more 'traditional' contouring, 'Strobing' instead proposes simply getting your glow on by slapping on the highlight and shunning the sculpting bronzer. And what with all the (slightly) Summer-y weather that's been happening, I guess that's kinda what I've been going for recently (however still with a little contour going on cause I feel my face will forever look better with a little bronzer hugging my structure). Still - I've definitely been going for more of a full-on highlight look as of late as opposed to the more heavy-handed approach I sometimes take to chiselling out those cheekbones. And yanno what? I think, especially at the time of year - it don't half look that darn bad.
So what exactly have I been employing for this 'Reverse Contour' as I like to dub it? If you're an avid reader of Dainty Ditsy, no doubt you'd have already heard me ramble on about the Makeup Revolution Baked Highlighter in 'Pink Lights'. In short - it's a perfect illuminator. The shimmer is super finely-milled, so there's no intense glitter chunks to be found and the pinky tones mesh well with the natural undertones of my complexion and leave everything looking very 'My Glow But Better'-like. Since purchasing my Real Techniques Sculpting Set, I was struggling to find a use for the Fan Brush, as I felt I already had a selection of brushes perfect for all of my powder products. However, since starting to team the two together recently, I've found it to give such a gorgeous effect - depositing just the right amount of colour in all the right places, so it just looks like a natural sheen on the tops of the cheeks, browbone or if you fancy - generally all-over. You glow, girl...
