How My Skincare Routine's Currently Shaping Up... #AllMonthAugust

I don't talk that much about the topic of Skincare on this 'ere blog if I'm honest. I guess it's a mixture of it not being my personal top interest in the world of beauty, and also the fact that my skin (as you'll know if you've read my blog before) is a darn right fussy bugger and so often I stick to the same products/routine for far longer than others may do. However, I noticed the other day that I've not really covered my whole Skincare Routine as a whole ever before on this online space of mine, so figured what better time than right now, eh? Let's do this...

DAY: For daytime, I like to keep things simple and start by sweeping a light coating of the Garnier Micellar Water all over my face to ensure it is as clean as possible in preparation for makeup, or just so it feels clean if I'm not wearing any that day. Sometimes I can wake up and have panda eyes from not removing my eye-makeup thoroughly enough, so this helps to fix that. I skip any other form of cleansing as I feel my skin doesn't really need it first thing in the morning, so move straight onto moisturiser. I love a good day cream, and you'll know if you've perused round here before that my current fave is the Nivea Sensitive Day Cream SPF 15 - which I've rambled on about far too many times before, so I'll spare you another rave and simply conclude that it is lovely. It doesn't annoy my easily-aggravated skin at all, and whilst being quite rich and hydrating, doesn't leave any weird residue on my skin that can interfere with makeup application. I also apply a tiny bit of an eye cream (I love the Superdrug Vitamin E Eye Cream) just to keep that important area hydrated and help any products I apply there to do so easier.

NIGHT: Night-time, for me, is where things get a little more in-depth. Whether I've been wearing make-up that day or not, I persevere with applying some of my trusty Garnier Micellar Water once again all over my face to give it a good cleanse. I then go in for that highly recommended 'Second Cleanse', using my Nivea 2-in-1 Cleanser and Toner to further wash off any make-up, impurities or just general dirt that's still harbouring on my face (ew). With my face fully clean at last, I then like to simply inject it with as much moisture and hydration as possible. I spritz my face with the Superdrug Vitamin E  Toning Facial Mist (can you tell I like this range?) and I love this for many reasons - it's very cooling and refreshing on my skin at the end of the day; secondly, it feels as if I'm giving my skin a good drink, something it forever craves. It also smells delightful - added bonus right there. Once that's had a chance to dry down and sink into my complexion, I like to go in with different things depending on the situation. If we're talking a pamper night-type thang, then I head straight to my St Ives Gentle Apricot Facial Scrub to really give my skin a good invigorating massage and clear it of any build up of nasties and follow up with one of various face masks I have stashed away. However, if we're speaking general skincare nights, I continue on the same moisturising path and use either my standard night cream (Nivea Sensitive Night Cream) or a leave-on mask if I fancy giving my skin an extra treat (my favourite is again from Superdrug's Vitamin E collection - their Moisture Mask is just all kinds of awesome). Then I simply tap on some more of my eye cream I used earlier in the day-time, do a few other essential things I need to do before heading to my bed (brushing teeth, putting eye drops in etc.) and I'm ready to go!

Over time, as my skincare routine's become more set-in-stone and established as part of my day, I've managed to get into good habits and can often perform all of this in a decent amount of time without even having to think about it. If only everything in life could be that simple, eh?
