Hair Haul

Having ombre hair, it's kinda essential to maintain it as best as you can. Not only with having regular haircuts and re-dyes when needed, but also just generally keeping on top of the colour in terms of its tone and ensuring there's no brassiness in there at all. So, that was exactly the theme of my last trip to Boots. And, for once in my life, I stuck pretty darn well to the brief and emerged with only those items in hand. Go me...

I like to invest in the Nice 'n' Easy Root Touch Ups for any at-home colouring maintenance - one in a hue that's pretty similar to my natural root colour that my hair starts at and one that is more akin to the ashy, bright blonde that I like to have running through my ends. I already had one of the former in my collection, so on this occasion only needed to purchase the latter - in the shade 'Extra Light Blonde'. This works well at adding back in any blonde quickly and easily if I fancy it and also applying lightly over any pre-done areas if they're starting to look a little dull and in need of a sprucing.

I then headed to the Jerome Russell section as I wanted to invest (again) in some products to top up my blonde with and also tone it. I'd heard good things about the brand, but I've yet to actually give them a go, so I decided the time was now. Both items I picked up I'd tried other versions of from different brands - but the grass is always greener, eh? First off, I plumped for the Bblonde Lightening Spray. I've sampled something similar from John Frieda before, but we never really hit it off, so I decided to give this one a go instead. I love using something like this when my hair's in need of a colour boost and I want slightly easier, hassle-free method as opposed to whacking on the dye. Fingers crossed I'll fall in love with this one - as always, I'll keep you lovely lot in the loop. Secondly from Jerome Russell (and lastly in terms of this mini haul), I picked up the Bblonde Colour Toner in 'Platinum Blonde'. I love me a good hair toning product for replacing any orangey tints in my hair with more cool, natural-looking undertones (as you can probably tell if you're a regular round these parts), and while I do still love the PRO:VOKE Touch of Silver one, being the typical beauty fanatic I am, I fancied a switch-up and so opted to try this one out instead. From what I can tell, it's pretty comparable to the PRO:VOKE one in that it's a bright violet coloured treatment that you apply to your hair, leave on, rinse out and then style as usual. However, the Jerome Russell version also suggests you to wrap you hair up in cling film (oh the glamour) and leave your strands to marinate in it for a good half an hour - so I'll keep you posed on how it works out. The things we do for beauty, eh?
