It may well be cliché, but there's something about Summer which just makes me instantly gravitate towards anything cream textured in terms of makeup. Whether it be for the complexion, eyes or lips - I can't get enough of the ease of application and glowy, healthy finish they bring. As of late, I've been even more into those kinds of formulas for my base makeup - something which is more of a rarer thing than the other two categories - so figured I might aswell share my new routine with you lovely lot. Let's get started...
Recently, I've been loving the NYX Wonderstick Highlight and Contour Stick in 'Light' (as you'd have seen in this post and also this one too) - particularly for the cream contour shade. The formula is super-creamy and easy to blend out and the colour is just the right mix between 'ashy' and 'warm' and so kinda doubles up as a bronzer and contour. I take this in a classic '3' shape - across my temples, onto my cheeks and in the hollows of my cheekbones and also underneath my jawline - and I also take a touch down the bridge of my nose too.
As you guys may know, being a gal with more rosey-tinged skin, I'm not that big on blush - but if there's ever a time where I am tempted to reach for it, then it's Summer. Because of this, most of the formulas in my collection (and most of the ones I tend to gravitate towards when/if I'm making a purchase) are cream-based and my favourite of the lost probably has to be the Bourjois 12 Hr Aqua Blush. This is more of a 'liquid' consistency than a true 'cream' and I love this texture for a blush as I find it super-easy to apply and blend out into a finish which looks really natural on the skin. It sits beautifully on top of the rest of my base (especially when paired with the rest of my cream formulas) and doesn't disrupt anything in anyway.
I'm not such a big fan of the highlighter which comes alongside the NYX Wonderstick, so instead I've been reaching for my faithful Collection Speedy Highlighter in 'Pearl Sheen'. This is a lovely cream highlighter which gives a gorgeous glow to the skin without being loaded with shimmer or glitter. It gives a fairly intense highlight, but the formula gives it that slightly more 'natural' finish. Personally, I find cream products to apply, sit and last far better than powder textures on my skin throughout the Summer, aswell as helping my skin look much more full of life. And who doesn't want that, eh?
