Rose Gold Beauty

Over the past few years, Rose Gold - or Copper, or whatever you want to call it - has become a huge thing. Whether it be homeware, clothing, accessories; you can pretty much find it on everything. One area in particular which has seen a massive rise of the rose gold tones as of late has been the beauty arena and seeing as this blog is primarily based in just that topic - I figured for today's post I'd run you lovely lot through some of my personal picks when it comes to the coppery colour scheme...

MAKEUP - In regards to makeup, the majority of the rose gold items are from the eyes department. Eyeshadow-wise, I really like the Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Stick by Kate in 'Rose Gold'. After hearing a tonne of people raving about this, I finally picked it up around the start of this year and I love it. The formula is super-creamy and easy to scribble onto the lid and blend out with your fingers or a brush and the colour is b-e-a-utiful. It's a true rose gold shade with a load of shimmer running through it and it looks stunning as a one-shade-wonder. The format and colour of this makes it a real unique item in my collection. In terms of more 'traditional' powder eyeshadow, I also love the Fleur De Force Eyeshadow Quad in 'Lunar Rose'. As you'd imagine, inside of this palette you get four different hues, but personally, it's the one on the bottom left which truly has my heart. This is the most gorgeous super-shimmery, pinky gold shade that - once again - is ideal for washing all over the lid and leaving it at that. It's a very pigmented, rich colour and just like the eyeshadow stick, I don't have anything like it in my current stash. If you're after more of a wider shadow collection which is almost-entirely based around pinky tones - then I'd point you in the direction of the Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Eyeshadow Palette. This holds a tonne of shades that are perfect for creating that rose gold eye and considering the amount of shades you get for the budget price you pay - you really cannot go wrong. These are really good, high quality eyeshadows that apply and blend out like a dream, have practically no fall-down and last all day long. Another great option would also be the Collection Eyes Uncovered Eyeshadow Palette in 'Nude Rose'. This contains a more edited-down colour selection, but also comes in an even more bargainous price than the Maybelline one - swings and roundabouts, eh? The colours inside vary from a barely-there champagne right up to a deep plum, with all of your pinky, rose gold-inspired hues in-between and once again, the shadows are really good quality.

NAILS - Nails-wise, there are actually quite a lot of shades available which fall under the pinky gold category. Although a while ago there seemed to be hardly any available, recently I've been noticing an increasing amount slowly trickling into nail polish ranges and having tried a fair few out - it's safe to say I have my favourites. From Maybelline, their Color Show Nail Polishes in 'Brick Shimmer' and 'Pink Party Dress' are equally stunning rose gold tinged shades. The former is more of a shimmery set-up, whilst the latter has a metallic finish - but both hold the same rose gold hue. They both work well alone, but I personally love to pair them together for a full-on glamour effect. Also from Maybelline's Color Show range, I also love the shade 'Bouquet'. Unfortunely, I believe this shade was limited edition (boo!) but it's such a stunning shade, I couldn't not mention it. It's a gorgeous glitter with both smaller and larger pink, white and copper flecks and applied on top of a pink base - you really cannot go wrong. Sticking with the true copper tones, a recent love comes from Barry M's Molten Metal collection and it is the shade 'Copper Mine'. This is a metallic polish (as the name suggests), though with more of a glittery finish than the Maybelline 'Brick Shimmer', so it almost creates that effect I was talking about earlier in just one polish alone. A really unique shade and another which instantly makes your nails look as if you've spent a heck of a lot of time on them (when in reality, you haven't). If a full-on copper glitter is what you're after, then the H&M Nail Polish in 'Copper Cascade' is perfect. As I said, this is almost entirely made up of varying sizes of copper glitter, with just a touch of gold thrown in there too. But honestly, the copper is the main feature here and makes for another polish that's ideal for layering on top of a more opaque colour (such as some that I've mentioned earlier) for an extra touch of glamour. Last, but certainly by no means least - if something a tad pinkier is more up your street - I'd highly recommend the Essie Luxe Nail Effects Polish in 'A Cut Above'. This sits more on the rosey side of rose gold (and some may not class it as rose gold at all) but to me, in some lights it most definitely pulls that way. This is a really versatile glitter as while you can apply it more sheer as a top coat, you can also really build it up to almost become a standalone polish - perfect for if you want to go all-out with the sparkly stuff. And let's be honest, when isn't that the case?
