Tried and Tested: Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads

Not so long ago, I finally contrasted a proper Skincare Routine for myself. Yanno - generally following the whole 'Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise' thang and for the aforementioned 'Toning' step I initially employed the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads. I'd heard majorly good things about how fab (yageddit?) they were for toning the skin, minimising pores and acting as a little acid exfoliating step too. Instead of the manual variety - simply swipe one of them across your skin and you're good to go. A week or so ago, I noticed that my tester-sized tub was coming to an end and while I enjoyed using them, I also fancied dipping my toe into another well-loved and much-hyped-about acid toner from Nip + Fab. Fancy hearing my thoughts? Carry on reading...

On the price scale side of things, for a big pack of 60 pads - these ones clock in at a much more affordable price compared to FAB's. The Facial Radiance Pads will set you back around £20 (which is still not so bad considering they'll last you a good two months or so), whereas the Glycolic Fix Pads are just under the £15 pricepoint - and are often on offer at Boots and Superdrug. As I said, while I really enjoyed the offering from First Aid Beauty, I knew I wanted to give these pads a go at some point too and all in all - I really rather like them. As my skin is so easily aggravated, I was a little apprehensive adding these to my routine - especially when I'd got on so well with the Facial Radiance Pads - but I was pleasantly surprised at how easily they replaced them, with little to no fuss at all. I bought the small, travel-friendly pack (which only holds about five pads) first off so I could ease myself in slowly but once they were all used up, I just had to run out and repurchase the full-sized pack as I was loving them that much. My skin didn't flare up (and still hasn't to this day) and they work in a practically identical way to the First Aid Beauty version. Each pad is well-soaked in the glycolic acid and easily glides over the skin after cleansing - leaving a slight tingle, but nothing too dramatic. They do feel like they're doing the job and lifting away any dead skin cells, but the addition of hyaluronic acid means they don't feel at all stripping. My skin feel rejuvenated, but moisturised at the same time - my ideal complexion situation. Personally, just like the Facial Radiance Pads, I found while they didn't automatically feel like they were doing anything, you can definitely see a noticeable difference over time. Once again, my skin had a little 'purge' after a couple of uses, but after that I can really see an improvement in the texture of my skin, the 'glowiness' of it and the general appearance looks much more even and clear. I've never had much issues with spots in terms of my skin, but I definitely have problems with redness and I can see that a lot of it has calmed down. While of course this can be partly attributed to the pads from First Aid Beauty (I saw similar improvements after starting using those), these positive changes have certainly continued and if anything, I actually feel like I can notice greater changes since starting to use these ones from Nip + Fab.

So, I guess these get the thumbs up from me. The slight drop in price is of course very much welcome, but the main thing for me is that they work on my sensitive, pain in the ass-type skin and do just as good a job as the First Aid Beauty, if not even better. What more could you ask for, eh?
