Autumn/Winter Fashion Loves and Lusts

As soon as the weather begins to change (or should I say 'dramatically changes' practically like a flick of a switch) from Summer into Autumn, I immediately start to think about how I want to update my wardrobe for the upcoming season. While I am a big fan of the Summer, there's something about the cooler months which I really love - especially when it comes to fashion. While trends may change over time, there's always the more general pieces which come round every single time and I just can't get enough of. So for today's post, I thought I'd compile a little list together - with a twist. There are some items which I've already added in recent weeks which I've been loving, while there's some which I may not have added to my wardrobe just yet - but I certainly want to in the not-too-distant future. Think of it as my 'Loves and Lusts' (just like the post I do at the end of each month), but for my Autumn/Winter Fashion Picks. Let's get started...

LOVES:

A NEW COAT - Kicking off with the 'Loves', this year I once again fancied picking a new coat up for the new season. It's not a given every single year but more often than not, once Autumn/Winter rolls around, it's one of he first things which I think about possibly changing up. After a few searches online and in-store in various places, it happened to be during an online browse when I was after nothing in particular when I came across this coat from New Look. It was one of those classic 'saw it, loved it, bought it' moments as I realised that it was basically everything I had in my mind for my next overwear purchase. It was longline, with a slim fit , but still 'heavy' enough to act as a coat should (keep you warm and that) and with some gorgeous detailing to boot. I love a touch of faux fur around the collar for that luxe, chic feel (while still being very affordable) and the addition of the belt appears to be a feature on many coats this season - so it's definitely something I'm happy to get behind by adding this one to my wardrobe. And if that wasn't enough, it's in burgundy. Yeah, that's right, burgundy. I'm sure I've mentioned before how much I love the deep burgundy, berry, wine-type shades in the Autumn/Winter and this fits firmly into that category so all in all - I couldn't be happier with this!

FAUX FUR - Following on from the faux fur addition on the coat, I have been really keen to add more of the stuff to my wardrobe as a whole this season. I think when done right, fur (of the fake variety, of course) can look really stylish and also add an extra layer of warmth around this time of year. I was particularly after a gilet, as I'd always seen people wearing them and loving how they looked and so when I spotted this one in Primark - I was instantly sold. A basic, no-frills black gilet which doesn't look heavy or bulky and will go with everything and anything. And if that wasn't enough - it was only £15. Bargain.

LUSTS:

STAPLE BODYSUITS - It feels like everyone has been obsessed with bodysuits for ages now, but it's only in recent weeks when I've felt the need to possibly invest in some. Autumn/Winter is all about the layering and it occurred to me a while back that bodysuits may just be the ideal thing for just that this season. Usually when I attempt to layer basic tops underneath jumpers or shirts or anything or that type it all gets a little messy after a while and I am forever getting annoyed by it all, however perhaps adding a bodysuit or two to my stash would help me avoid that situation from now on? There's only one way to find out, I guess...

GETTING ON THE EMBROIDERY HYPE - Embroidery is a huge thing right now and I have to say, I am more than a little tempted to just throw caution to the wind and give it a whirl. With the designs more often than not featuring a floral theme (you all know how much I love my florals), it just seems like too much of a 'me'-type trend to not jump on the back on it. I really like how a touch of embroidery on simple pieces can really transform them - and in the cases of more affordable items - make them appear far more expensive than they actually were.

CLASSIC BLACK JEANS - I know this seems like a bit of a strange one, but I really want to find a pair of jeans that I really, really love and want to wear non-stop. I've tried and worn so many styles and brands of jeans in the past and while I've liked them, I'm yet to find a style which I am obsessed with and make me want to wear them non-stop. I've always heard majorly good things about the Topshop Jeans for the longest of times - the 'Joni' style especially - so this year, I have finally decided I am gonna just go for it and invest in a pair - and hopefully, if I really like them, I'll be going back for more.

EVERYDAY WINTER BOOTS - Last - but certainly by no means least - this season I really fancy treating myself to a new pair of boots. Much like a winter coat, it's not always necessarily something I invest in and change up every single year, but this time round I feel like I am in much need of a new pair. Both in terms of general wear and tear and also the fact that I feel like my current everyday set just isn't really 'me' anymore - so as of now, I'm on the hunt for its replacement. With my new coat being very chic and stylish (or at least trying to be), I'm after some boots which complement that style and are perhaps a tad more on the simplistic side of things so *fingers crossed* I find some. It's safe to say that thanks to this post, I'm going to be online shopping a heck of a lot...
