I love Autumn. The slightly crisp feeling in the air. The pretty, warm coloured leaves. The darker evenings (though not so much the darker mornings I have to admit). But you know what has to be one of my favourite aspects of the season as a whole? The makeup. Of course, there are no rules in the makeup game and you can obviously use whatever products, shades and tones you fancy no matter what time of year it may be - but personally - whenever Autumn hits, I am all about those deeper, darker lip hues. I have a whole host of different ones which I love and reach for during these transitional months and so today, I thought I'd give you lovely lot a little rundown on some of my top picks...
PRIMARK VELVET MATTE LIPSTICK CRAYON IN 'HUSTLE' - Starting off with the most 'nude'-esque shade of the whole line-up and also, coincidently, the most affordable. These lip crayons from Primark are actually one of the standouts from the entire beauty range and come in at only £2 each and are available in a whole host of different colours. This one, called 'Hustle', is my favourite so far and while you may argue it's yet again another brown-ey nude; this one's a little different as it's got this burnt, brick-red undertone to it. It's the touch of rouge that it gives which I feel makes it the perfect nude for Autumn and I loves it.
MAC LIPSTICK IN 'MEHR' - Next up, another nude-type shade but with an Autumnal twist. This lippie from MAC has a slight mauve undertone and is a very good shout for emulating that classic Kylie Jenner lip - especially with its matte finish. I love wearing purple-y, plum tones this time of year so this is a definite staple for me for sho'.
TANYA BURR COSMETICS MATTE LIP IN 'MARTHA MOO' - Carrying on with the purple theme, this liquid lipstick is an ideal choice. Very similar in tone to the above but a touch darker and as I said; in a super matte, long-lasting formula. I have been a big fan of this ever since it first made its way into my collection back in the Summer, but I feel like I'm about to become even more obsessed with it now we're firmly in the cooler months.
NYX SOFT MATTE LIP CREAM IN 'CANNES' - Another liquid lipstick (kinda) comes from NYX and again, a slight twist on a traditional nude hue. Much like some of the others before it, the only difference I can maybe point out is that the undertone of this runs a touch more pink than plum. Also, while this is in theory a formula simular to the above, it's actually much lighter and more hydrating on the lips - something which does sure sound appealing during Autumn.
MAYBELLINE COLOR DRAMA VELVET LIP PENCIL IN 'KEEP IT CLASSY' - Back onto the whole 'lip crayon' thang and one which has been a firm favourite of mine for a good couple of years now (as I'm sure you'll know if you've read round these parts for a while). This sits perfectly between the nude-y, mauve hues mentioned above and the proper deep, dark berry shades which I'm about to get onto and I love it. Again, it's got that gorgeous warm, plumy tone and really love the finish - matte, but not completely and therefore making for a really comfortable but durable lip option.
BOURJOIS ROGUE EDITION VELVET LIPSTICK IN 'PLUM PLUM GIRL' - Now we're fully in the deeper territory as this is a full on dark berry shade. It may take a couple of thin coats to reach the full potential of this liquid lipstick, but the finished result makes it so, so worth it. It's definitely a bold, dramatic colour but I still find it wearable and again, it provides great lasting power without comprising on comfort.
RIMMEL THE ONLY 1 LIPSTICK IN 'UNDER MY SPELL' - Moving onto the final four lip suggestions of this line-up and coincidently - they're all from Rimmel. I love Rimmel, particularly for their lip department, so I guess from that perspective it doesn't come as too much of a surprise. This is what I'd say is the last of the purple-toned lippies and much like the above, it's a full-on deep, dark option. Ever so slightly more vampy and with a glossier finish which may not appeal to some, but does make for a welcome hit of hydration once the temperature begins to drop.
RIMMEL KATE MOSS MATTE LIPSTICK IN '107' - C'mon - this was always gonna make a appearance in here, wasn't it? It's the classic Autumnal shade that everyone and their dog immediately reaches for once the leaves start to turn brown and I have to say, I am no exception. It's like the perfect mix between a red, burgundy and berry and together makes for the ideal bold lip shade for this time of year if you're keen on keeping things classic, but still very stunning indeed. Such an awesome lipstick for such a bargainous price.
RIMMEL THE ONLY 1 LIPSTICK IN 'LISTEN UP!' - Another from the 'The Only 1' range and the one straight-up pink of the whole lineup. This is a beautiful raspberry red which offers a touch more vibrancy to proceedings (I know a lot of these shades are very deep and dark) and shows how you can easily rock a pink during the Autumn months. The red base (as opposed to blue) gives it a warm, rich undertone and really brightens up the complexion.
RIMMEL KATE MOSS MATTE LIPSTICK IN '111' - Last, but by no means least, a final inclusion from Rimmel and their awesome Matte Lipsticks by Kate Moss. While the infamous '107' has that slight berry, burgundy tone; this is more of your classic red. I especially love this one for this time of year as it's on the deeper end of the spectrum, unlike the brighter reds which I tend to go for as we head into the festive season. I know, I said it...
