I haven't done a 'Moment of Makeup' where I give you lovely lot a rundown of just what products have been regular features on my face for a good while now - so guess what? That's exactly what I'm gonna do today. As the title of this edition suggests, I have discovered a load of new products lately - some which I've already featured round these parts, some which I haven't yet - and so I've been switching things up quite a lot as of late and really rather loving it. Let's jump right on in...
For base, I'm still a big lover of the L'Oréal Lumi Magique Primer. This has been a staple in my stash for a while now and I'm still just as big of a fan now. This makes my makeup glide on like a dream, gives a lovely luminosity to the complexion and helps everything stay on right till I decide to take it off. What more could you want, eh? Foundation-wise, I have finally changed things up from my usual Bourjois Healthy Mix - hallelujah! If you read this post, you'll know that during my last Boots trip I picked up a new foundation to try and I have to say - so far, so good. This is the L'Oréal Infallible 24HR Foundation in 'Porcelain' and I'm pretty darn impressed with it. The shade match is spot-on and so is the formulation too. The texture is super creamy and easily glides onto the skin, blending in like a dream with a finish that's neither too matte, nor too dewy - just skin-like. It sits beautifully on my complexion and I find that it's one of the few foundations I've tried that really does lock into place and so I find it to be super long-lasting too. I then go in with concealer and - surprise, surprise - it's my usual, Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 'Fair'. This covers everything I need it to and just generally does the job brilliantly and I love it (incase you hadn't worked out already by the amount of time it's featured round these parts). I also popped a bit of the Rimmel Lasting Finish Concealer in 'Porcelain' in any areas where I wanted a little more coverage. Once my base is applied, I've continued setting my under-eyes - and just my face overall to be honest - with my Collection Primed and Ready Invisible Setting Powder to mattify and reduce shine in all the areas I want to and help prolong my makeup aswell. It's translucent, so doesn't add any extra colour or coverage and the formula is really lightweight and not at all cakey too.
I then like to move onto my Eyes, and start out as I always do by doing my brows - using my NYX Micro Brow Pencil in 'Ash Brown' to fill them in and the L'Oréal Brow Artist Plumper in 'Medium/Dark' to set them into place, tint them and add that extra dose of fullness. I then start on my actual eyes themselves and use my beloved Urban Decay Primer Potion - you know the one by now. I use this pretty much every single time I do my makeup - or at least, every single time eyeshadow is on the menu - as I just cannot be without it. It makes the application of eyeshadow so much easier and more pigmented and stops my oily eyelids from eating up them up, making them crease and just generally helps make my eye makeup last all day long. I lightly set it with a dusting of the powder mentioned above and then crack straight on with eyeshadow. Lately, I have been all kinds of obsessed with the MUA 'Burning Embers' Eyeshadow Palette - ever since it made its way into my stash earlier this month, it's been all I've been using and I have been loving it. You get a huge selection of shades and because of that, I've been creating tonnes of different looks since I started using it and every single time it is just perfect. All of the shades fall very much within the kinds of colours that everyone is massively into right now (myself included) and considering how bargainous the shadows are - they're creamy, easy to apply and blend and are pretty darn pigmented too. To finish the eyes off, I've been floating between either a completely liquid liner-less look or a full-on wing - and when I do go for the latter, it's the Soap and Glory Supercat Liner that I reach for. I then coat my lashes to the max with my Soap and Glory Thick and Fast HD Mascara (that's quickly approaching the end of its life right now) and the eyes are complete!
I then like to move back to the face department and finish things off - starting with contour. I haven't been that experimental with my contouring routine for some time now and have been using the same products consistently - until recently, when I finally picked up something new to try. I was looking at possible drugstore recommendations and the NYX High Definition Blush in 'Taupe' kept cropping up over and over again. I had a good ol' Google and liked the look of it myself too, so picked it up and I have to say, I am not disappointed. This is a gorgeous matte 'blusher', but the colour and overall tone of it makes it just perfect as a paler gals's contour hue. The colour is just as the name describes it, but the thing I really love about it is that it's a taupe that sits perfectly between the ;ashy' and 'warm' ends of the spectrum. It's got enough of a cool-toned vibe to make it work at creating shadows and depth on the face, but it's also got this lovely reddy undertone of warmth to it to ensure the complexion isn't completely deadened. It just looks like a natural contour on my skintone and I loves it, a lot. The formula/pigmentation/blendability is also pretty bangin' too. For adding some actual, 'proper' warmth to my skin though, I'm still a huge lover of the Soap and Glory 'Solar Powder' Bronzer. This, again, works wonderfully on my paler complexion and just adds the perfect amount of colour and bronziness to my skin, without making my look like an Oompa Loompa - and that's always a good thing, isn't it? Finally, I cannot do my face without a good ol' dosing of glowy goodness - Highlighter. I am still faithful to my theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer, but recently I've been mixing things up and using a different product (with a different texture too) - Soap and Glory's 'Glow All Out' Cheek Stick. It's of a similar, icy, champagne-y tone - just with a cream formula and this stuff gives some serious glow when you build it up. It even works as an awesome base for the Mary-Lou if I'm feeling like a proper intense, intense highlight that day...
Last, but certainly by no means least - Lips. Honestly I am still not fully over the whole 'liquid lippie' hype/trend thang and so it's not really any major shocker that it's something that falls under that category that I've been rockin' a tonne recently. If you read this post, you'll know that recently, I've been testing out the Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Matte Lip Kits and of them all, for everyday wear I've been loving the shade 'Reign'. It's a nice, classic, pinky-brown nude that applies like a lipgloss and dries down to a matte finish and I really rather love it. As I mentioned in that post, they don't dry down as matte, matte as I'd personally like them to, but despite the slight tackiness left behind the longevity is still pretty good and the colour is a beaut aswell. A quick spritz of the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray and we're good to go makeup-wise. Job done.
