Over the past few months I have fully gotten into the whole 'metallic' nail trend. It's always been a style that's been present in the nail world - and something I've tried myself a fair few times in the past too - but recently, it's really cemented itself as favourite fad of mine. Not that it's a 'fad', fad though, as it doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon and this collection I've got to show you lovely lot today I'd say is perfect proof of just that...
H&M BEAUTY NAIL POLISH IN 'RUSSET PEARL' - Kicking things off with one of the only polishes that don't come from the likes of Maybelline or Barry M - this lacquer is instead from H&M Beauty. I picked this up back when the range first launched a year or so ago and have loved it ever since. This is a stunning, bright, vivid red that has this gorgeous metallic sheen to it. It's one of the more subtle and smooth of all of these metallised polished and so is a great one to start you off and of course, works really well towards the end of the year when we reach the festive season (don't worry, I won't utter the 'C' word just yet). Check it out in action here.
MAYBELLINE COLOR SHOW NAIL POLISH IN 'BRICK SHIMMER' - Then, moving into the masses of rose gold, copper tones in this post (can you tell I like those colours on my nails?), first up with this beauty from Maybelline. This is the most red-toned, rich copper of them all and I find myself particularly gravitating towards this one as soon as the weather moves into Autuimn/Winter. It also works great as a base for all of the lighter, more pinky-toned rose gold glitters and shimmers I have in my stash. Check it out in action here.
BARRY M MOLTEN METAL NAIL PAINT IN 'COPPER MINE' - Then, another copper hue and the first from another bangin' range, the 'Molten Metals' from Barry M. As I said, this is a tad less 'in yer face' as the above and if you look up close, you can see a touch of lighter, almost silver shimmer running through it but I love this one for when I want something slightly more 'muted' but still very vibrant and much true to colour at the same time. Check it out in action here.
BARRY M MOLTEN METAL NAIL PAINT IN 'PINK ICE' - Rose gold-wise, this lacquer is stunning. It's one of the most recent additions to my collection and I am super happy with it. You might assume that this and the above would be very similar, but when you place them side-by-side you realise that actually, there's a notable difference. While the above is definitely more of a true copper, this is more of a rose gold and so is much lighter and has more of a pink tone as opposed to a warm orange. It's more icy (hence the name) and cool-toned, but is still super-flattering on the nails. Check it out in action here.
MAYBELLINE SUPER STAY 7 DAY METALLIC SILK NAIL POLISH IN 'ROSE VEIL' - Another rose gold lacquer that I'm pretty in love with is another shade from Maybelline. This is very, very similar to the above, though if I had to differentiate them in any way it would be that to me, this one seems just a little bit warmer in undertone. It's not overly warm - it's still very pinky and true 'rose gold' style - but it's definitely not icy and is less silver-based than the Barry M offering. Either way - both are super lovely and I'd highly recommend them both. Check it out in action here and here.
MAYBELLINE COLOR SHOW NAIL POLISH IN 'PINK SLIP' - Then, into definite 'Pink' territory - this is the most recent of them all in terms of additions to my stash and what I've been lacquering up my nails with (as you'd have seen in this post here). As I said, this is most definitely 'pink' as opposed to 'rose gold' and with it being overly blue-based, this just screams out 'Barbie' to me. Although, the addition of the silver metallic finish makes for a really pretty, interesting twist and something that's super girly and perfect for the upcoming Summer months.
MAYBELLINE SUPER STAY 7 DAY NAIL POLISH IN 'WINNER TAKES IT ALL' - In a post all about metallic effect nails, it'd be rude not to include a gold somewhere, right? The original, classic take on this trend that will never not be awesome, and this one, again from Maybelline, is just amazing. It's a warmer toned gold that still manages to get away with not appearing straight-up yellow-y and that is a definite force to be reckoned with. It instead looks super flattering and pretty on the nails and again, makes for a great lacquer choice whether used alone or as a base for a whole host of different polishes to be layered over the top of. The combinations are virtually endless...
BARRY M MOLTEN METAL NAIL PAINT IN 'GOLD DIGGER' - I just had to throw another gold in there too and I believe it or not there is a difference between the above and this one right here. I promise. Again, the main thing that stands out to me is the undertone and while the above runs more warm (but not too warm), this one right here from Barry M is just a smidgen on the cooler side of things. I also find that, as with all of the 'Molten Metals', the formula is less of a 'smooth' metallic and instead has a slightly more of a 'textured', glittery finish. It's slightly more multi-tonal and so if that's what you're into - this is your guy.
MAYBELLINE COLOR SHOW NAIL PAINT IN 'LIGHT UP' - Just as I said about how gold is a classic metallic hue, silver is just as much so too (I'm a poet and I didn't even know it). If you're more into your cool colours rather than warm, silver is always your one to go for and is just as a much of a 'tried and true' as the stunning golds out there. This one in particular from Maybelline has to be my favourite, favourite I've ever tried. Much like the Barry M 'Molten Metals', it's more textured of a finish and so works really well as a stand-alone polish where you don;t necessarily want/have the time to be layering other polishes over the top to achieve a similar effect. It's a true, beautiful silver tone that just looks super nice on the nails and I love it.
BARRY M MOLTEN METAL NAIL PAINT IN 'HOLOGRAPHIC LIGHTS' - Finally - I promise - a bit of a 'wild card' in this post. I've talked about basically all of the traditional, typical tones so far but if you're after something a little different and 'out there' - go holographic! This is a super fun colour to opt for and with the festival season nearly here and in full swing, could possibly be a good option for if you fancy spicing things up nails-wise. Or even just for an everyday look, yanno...
