The Many Uses Of Liquid Highlighter Drops...

Liquid highlighter drops are a pretty big deal right now. Ever since the likes of ICONIC London and Cover FX came out with liquid glowy goodness maybe a year or so ago, brands here there and everywhere have been quickly following suit - namely affordable brands, in an attempt to dupe them - and as you'll know if you read this post I did earlier this month, I finally jumped on the bandwagon by picking up one of the newest shades of Makeup Revolution's. And, let's just say, I am pretty darn pleased I did - they. are. awesome. This format of product in general is rather well-known for being very multi-purposeful and though I've only had mine for a short period of time, I have already been testing and trying them out for a handful of different uses and have already found a few favourites that really are as true as everyone says they are...

TO MIX IN WITH YOUR MOISTURISER - The first way I'd recommend using these drops of liquid, glowy goodness is to mix them into your skincare products - namely, your facial moisturiser. Then, not only are you reaping the benefits of hydration, you're also getting a gorgeous, sheen-ey radiance aswell. Not only does this work perfectly underneath makeup, it's also a great way of getting that 'lit from within'-type glow for no makeup days.

...OR EVEN USE ALONE AS A FACE PRIMER - Want something to prime your skin with that will help to keep your makeup on and add a touch underneath your foundation too? Check out some liquid highlighter drops. Dripped onto your face like all of those classic Instagram tutorials (you know the ones) and massaged in, not only does this deposit the most highly-concentrated, radiant finish (remember, we're not mixing them in with anything), the actual texture of the formula makes them a great option for helping you makeup glide on nicely and actually sticking it down into place too. Yes, you may well look a little like The Tin Man at first, but trust me, as soon as you go in with you foundation or base of choice over the top, that dewiness will just shine through beautifully and you'll be left with such a gorgeous, glowy effect.

TO MIX IN WITH YOUR FOUNDATION - Another perfect 'mixer' for your liquid highlighter drops is your foundation. This sort of achieves the same kind of effect as the above - but obviously, it skips out on the layering part - and so, if you're in a hurry, this could just be ideal for you. Just take you usual amount of foundation on the back of your hand, drop in just a drop or two (though personally, I usually find just the one to be more than enough), mix them together and apply as you normally would and voila - your foundation is instantly more dewy and glowy in finish. This trick also works well for if you've perhaps got a base in your stash that is 'matte' (or just more matte than you'd like) and you want to 'glow it up' a little. Seriously, it's like using a totally different foundation...

AS A STAND-ALONE LIQUID GLOW - Obviously, what other main way would you want to use a liquid highlighter for than as an actual highlighter?! Much like everyone else, I do find cream and liquid highlighters to require a little more time and effort in application than your usual powders - but oh boy, are they worth it. Personally, as for these liquid drops, I usually find either a slightly dampened beauty sponge or the warmth of my fingers to work best at applying them relatively easily onto the skin - allowing me to really mesh them in seamlessly and leave behind a lovely, sheen-y glow. Oooh.

...OR AS A HIGHLIGHTER 'PRIMER' - The liquid texture not only allows you to get your glow on ordinarily, but also, if you fancy going a step further - they also make for a pretty awesome highlighter 'primer' too. Basically, just as you do with your face or eyes where you apply a primer beforehand, you can apply a cream or liquid highlighter before going in with your powder highlighter and it acts as a rather good base. The slightly tacky finish, combined with the already glowy effect, will make your powder product apply even more super-duper sheen-y and with such things as liquid highlighter drops already being pretty intense and concentrated - you're sure on your way to getting your full-on glow on...

TO GIVE A FULLER APPEARANCE TO YOUR LIPS - Finally, one way of utilising your liquid highlighter drops is to give a more plump appearance to your lips. Though they can be super-intense, used lightly you can get a pretty 'natural' looking effect and so taking a small amount, gently patted over the centre of your lips and over the cupid's bow works wonders at making thing look more lifted and just generally, fuller. Mwah!
