Beauty Brand Favourites: Makeup Revolution

...or perhaps 'Revolution Beauty' as they now appear to be called. Although, I doubt I'll ever really get into calling them that - anyone else feel the same? I haven't done a 'Beauty Brand Favourites' in a while and it came to my attention the other day that I'm yet to do a round-up of what has fast become one of my favourite, favourite makeup brands. Especially over the past year or so, I have been utterly obsessed with basically anything and everything they've released and with products popping up left, right and centre - and me choosing to try out the vast majority of them - it's safe to say I had a lot of items to choose from. Because of that, I've definitely had to leave out a few products that I do really love (or else, it wouldn't be so much of a 'round-up', would it?) and with no doubt more and more coming in the near future, this is most certainly not a definite list - but right now, these five are what I would deem my ultimate, holy-grail's that are affordable, awesome and my love for has really stood the test of time. I'm pretty sure Makeup Revolution is a brand I will definitely be doing a 'Revisited' Version for at some point in the future though...

Conceal and Define Concealers - Their Fast Base Foundation Stick is awesome (and if I could, would definitely be featured in this post too), but I feel like this concealer that came out first at the very start of this year - and really catapulted Makeup Rev's popularity - is just too darn good to not give a mention, right? I mean, everyone and their Nan has tried this stuff by now and I'm sure you know what I'm on about, but if you don't - it's a pretty great concealer. After an initial launch of eighteen shades - that's since been extended even further to a grand total of twenty five! - ranging all the way up from the palest of pale to the deepest of deep and everything in-between - it's pretty likely you'll be able to find a shade perfect for you. The creamy formula is just the right consistency that blends out easily, leaving behind amazingly high coverage that wears without creasing or fading all day long and though a bottle doesn't last *that* long, it's only £4! Considering how it's been touted as a potential dupe for the infamous Tarte Shape Tape - with it's similar packaging, highly pigmented formula and big, fat doe foot applicator - and at a fraction of the price, I wouldn't complain...

Flawless Foils Shadows - When these were released a few months ago, they were something that I've never seen - at least, in the drugstore/affordable market - before and so, naturally, I had to pick them up. I believe these were actually first around a few years ago and were re-launched a few months ago bigger and better than before. The whole concept is something I've never seen - at least in the drugstore/affordable market - before and so, naturally, I was intrigued and had to pick some up. And I'm so, so glad I did. These are a great multi-use product - either use the shadow alone, dry; press some of the intensifying liquid primer onto your lid before doing so or mix some of it in  with the pigment itself and voila, you have an instant cream/liquid foiled shadow to play with. Personally, I enjoy mixing them together to really get the most out of the product and oh boy, does it work wonders. Providing you don't mix in too much primer, the two combined together creates such a super-pigmented, liquidised metal formula that's easy to apply with a flat synthetic brush in whatever way you choose - all-over, in the inner corners or the very centre of the lid for a halo effect - and once dry, sets into place and doesn't crease, move or fade all day long. Again, for such a super-affordable product, available in a whole host of colours for all types and tones of eye looks, you'd sure be onto a winner by picking up one or three of these beauties...

Soph X Eyeshadow Palette - Eyeshadow Palettes are a definite strong point of Revolution, and I'm sure many will agree with that. They're amazingly affordable, yet such awesome quality and so I guess that explains why it was difficult to choose just one for this post - as I didn't really fancy having any type of product in particular overpowering this line-up. I'd say I have two top faves - the Life On the Dancefloor 'Guestlist' Palette and then the collaboration with the lovely SophDoesNails - and while it was super tough to narrow it down as I pretty much adore them both equally, when I thought about it, I think it just has to be the latter. Not only was what really got me into the eyeshadow palettes that Makeup Rev have to offer back in September last year, I feel it really reignited my love for the brand in general - and I feel it did so for a lot of others too. Not only that, but it's only £10 and you get a grand total of 24 (yes, twenty four!) awesome shadows that are all rich in pigment, have little to no fall-down and blend amazingly well. There's a good mix of mattes and shimmers and such a great shade selection that has something for everyone - with neutrals, cools, warms and a few pops of colour for good measure - and could be used to create such a wide variety of looks. All in all, if you're yet to check this palette out and have been wondering whether it actually is worth the hype - it really, really is...

Soph X Highlighter Palette - Again, it was pretty difficult to select just one Highlighter from Revolution as it's yet another area that the brand just aces, time and time again - and as always, for such affordable prices too but in the end, I went for, again, part of Soph's collaboration. When I think about it, this just had to make it in here as not only do you get eight highlighters for just £8 (which works out at just £1 a highlighter!) there's also, just like her eyeshadow palette, such a variety of both finishes and colours. You get your 'traditional' pressed powders and also a few baked varieties - all of which are super intensely-pigmented and blinding - and you've got basically every colour to cater to everything from the palest of pale to the deepest of deep skin-tones. Personally, being more on the former end of the scale, I tend to stick to the first four shades

Rose Gold Lipstick in 'Chauffeur' - I'll admit, I haven't tried *that* much, Lips-wise, from the brand, but one product I have - and pretty much instantly fell in love with - is this lipstick from their Rose Gold Range. Since hearing the lovely Soph (I said I was a big fan) rave on and on about this shade in particular - and with her being a fellow pale gal too - I knew I had to pick it up and I'm so, so glad I did. This is just the perfect browney-nude for us fairer guys and gals out there. It's neither too light, nor too deep and has a slight pinky-mauve undertone to it that just makes it so super-flattering and easy to wear with virtually any and every makeup look. The satin finish isn't very long-lasting, but it sure is comfortable and very juicy-looking on the lips and to be fair, it does hang around fairly well given how creamy the formula is.

And there we have it - five of my ultimate favourites from Makeup Revolution (or, Revolution Beauty) - at least, for now, that is. Cause, with the rate that they like to release new products, I'm sure it won't be long before some new additions come and knock a few of these of the top-spot...
