Somehow, we're at the end of April - my namesake month - already and it's time to talk you all though what I've been loving, beauty product-wise, throughout the past month. Once again, it's very makeup-based, but there is a couple of super-pretty nail goodies thrown in at the very end that I've been really enjoying - so look out for those...
COLLECTION LASH SURGE MASCARA - Finally, the first mascara that I've tried in forever that I actually like! Having previously tried out the new Benefit Bad Gal Bang, plus another pretty recent offering from L'Oreal over the past couple of months - and honestly, not really being overly impressed by either - I decided to go back to basics and pick up a super-cheap drugstore offering and you know what? It. Is. Awesome. At first, I'll admit I wasn't totally convinced - you know, it was good, but not amazing - but using it for most of this past month and 'bedding it in' a little - I have to say, I am pretty impressed. This does the perfect mix of everything I look for in a good mascara - length, volume, thickness, but still the right amount of separation at the same time and a nice lifted, curly finish - and for such an amazingly affordable price-pint, you really cannot go wrong. I'm really glad I listened to everyone I heard raving about this as I feel I might have found my new favourite drugstore mascara...
L'OREAL BACK TO BRONZE MATTE BRONZING POWDER - I never believed I could find a bronzer that tops (or even just levels with) my ultimate favourite, Soap and Glory's Solar Powder, but this month I think I actually have. It's a pretty new launch I believe and I picked it up, again, after hearing so many people saying pretty good things and I'm very glad I listened up. Not only is it ever-so-slightly more affordable, I *think* I may actually slightly prefer the formula and also the overall colour/tone too. A shocker, I know, but I really do think I may have found my new favourite for bronzing up and adding some much-needed warmth. The formulation is just pigmented enough to deposit a nice layer of colour, without ever being too much and it just blends like an actual dream. The actual colour itself is neither too light, nor too deep and has a gorgeous, slightly red undertone that makes it look natural-ish and never leaves you looking like an Oompa Loompa - which is always a bonus, right?
TANYA BURR COSMETICS ILLUMINATING POWDER IN 'CHAMPAGNE SORBET' - An kinda-old favourite that I've gone back to this moth is this awesome highlighter from Tanya Burr. Since releasing this as part of a range last Summer, it has been one of my top affordable glow-givers, yet as I have so many awesome highlighters, I don;t always get to use it as much as I'd like to. However, I feel like that mini heatwave we got a week or so ago really inspired me to switch up my makeup products a little and hence, I rediscovered my love for this little beauty all over again. I remember last Summer that this was my go-to highlighter so, naturally, it was the first one I reached for when we got our first taste of it this year too. This is such an intense highlighter, yet doesn't appear at all 'glittery' on the skin. No matter how little more much you apply (and I'm sure you can guess I typically like to go 'in' most of the time) it just looks like an actual, natural-ish glow - which is what we're always after, right? The champagne hue is perfect for my paler complexion and deposits such a gorgeous sheen - I love it and cannot wait to continue to get more use out of it throughout the *hopefully* Summer months...
COLLECTION GLAM CRYSTALS LIQUID EYESHADOW IN '01 AURA' - This new range of glittery liquid eyeshadows launched not too long ago and after seeing some swatches, I decided to pick a couple up - with one colour in particular really impressing me so far. I wouldn't go as far to say they're 'dupes' for the infamous Stila Magnificent Metals (you know, the ones that are basically liquid glitter in a bottle) but they are rather intensely shimmery indeed - this colour especially so. A classic, light champagne gold that's ideal to pair with basically any eye look of any style to add some sparkle and with a formula that's super rich in both pigment/coverage and also shimmery goodness - what more could you want? I find only one layer is more than enough to achieve maximum coverage, the doe foot makes controlled application easy and once these apply, they dry down pretty soon after and once they do, don't crease, fade or crumble off all day long either! Winner...
L'OREAL COLOUR RICHE SHINE LIPSTICK IN '642 MLBB' - Lips-wise, another new-ish product that I heard a fair few people raving about and eventually decided to just pick up for myself is this lippie from good ol' L'Oreal. This whole 'Colour Riche Shine' range is, as I said, a pretty new launch from the brand and this one colour in particular was what everyone kept talking about and having now given it a go myself - I can certainly see why. Just as the name suggests, this is the perfect 'My Lips But Better'-type colour. A light (but not too light), beige-y nude with just the right of pink thrown in for good measure - this is basically near-identical to my natural lip colour, just a little more rosey. The formula, as you'd probably guess, is super creamy and deposits a gorgeous glossy sheen to the lips, but it's not at all sticky or uncomfortable in any way and though the cream texture means it doesn't hang around for long on the lips - it's only a nude colour, so it doesn't really matter. It can be easily topped-up throughout the day with no issues and I just love how plump and juicy this makes your lips look. From now on, if I ever want a glossy nude instead of my usual matte, this is definitely what I'll be opting for.
BARRY M MOLTEN METALS NAIL PAINTS IN 'HOLOGRAPHIC SUNBURST' AND 'HOLOGRAPHIC ROCKET' - Finally, we have a couple of new nail polishes that have stolen my heart this month. You all know I already adore Barry M and their nail offerings - one range in particular being the Molten Metals. I own - and love - a tonne of them and so, when I saw the brand was releasing a whole new collection of holographic-inspired hues, my interest was piqued. I don't often get behind the whole Holographic/Unicorn 'trend', but one way I definitely do like to embrace it is through my talons and so I quickly picked up a couple of colours to try out. And, as expected, they didn't disappoint. 'Holographic Sunburst' is a stunning warm, pinky-coral; whilst 'Holographic Rocket' is more purple-toned, but just as pretty - and both have that holographic effect that looks stunning straight-up, but even more so when it catches the light. Both with the exact same, awesome formula of the classic Molten Metals - what's not to love...
So, I guess that just about rounds up what I've been loving throughout the past month of April! I definitely found some awesome new products that I can't wait to continue getting my use out of - and maybe I might just have introduced you to something new too? Let me know what you've been loving this past month - I'd love to know...
