Maximising Your Highlighting Potential...

It's no secret that I love getting my glow on. And trust me - I mean it. Don't get me wrong, sometimes I do enjoy a slightly more 'subtle' highlight, but the majority of the time, there's nothing I enjoy more than a good, intense, blinding glow. And, over time, I feel like I've come across a few tips 'n' tricks that help me achieve that, so I thought I'd share them with you all...

USE A DENSE BRUSH - The more densely-packed the brush you use to apply your highlighter - the more intense and blinding it'll be, no doubt. Even if you go in with a slightly fluffier brush afterwards to buff out the edges, if you want to really pack on the pigment first - definitely make sure your brush is fairly beefy beforehand!

APPLY A LIQUID/CREAM HIGHLIGHTER FIRST - ...But, perhaps before you do that - maybe try applying a cream or liquid highlighter first, as a kind of base? Not only will this help your glow last and last all day or night long, it'll also really help your powder highlight adhere the best it can and maximise its glowy potential! And, in turn, if a cream or liquid highlighter is your usual go-to, perhaps try setting it into place with a powder glow afterwards. Both techniques will most definitely ensure your glow is the best it can be...

DAMPEN YOUR BRUSH FIRST - In terms of a powder highlighter, I'd definitely suggest you try spritzing your brush of choice before going in and applying. Whether this be with a setting spray, glow spray, primer water - whatever - not only will it help the pigment stick super-well and apply really smoothly, it'll almost turn it into a liquidy-type formulation, giving you more of a wet-look effect that's really intense and blinding too!

...OR YOUR FACE! - If you don't fancy dampening your brush before application, why not try doing it to your face instead? Just gently spritz your face - trying to concentrate it on the areas you wish to highlight - before going in and this will also really both aid application and help deliver the most intense, sheen-ey finish possible too.

LAYER YOUR PRODUCTS - Finally, perhaps the most 'obvious' one - layering products! And by this, not only am I talking actual different products - like creams/liquids then powders, or different types of creams/liquids/powders - but also shades and tones too. Of course, using more than one highlighter will always help your glow be the best it can be, but also, using different shades in the right places will also do this too. Whenever I want to get my glow doing the most, I find using my usual highlighter tone first, everywhere I want to glow, before going in on the very most high points of all of that with a slightly lighter shade to really make things pop. It's like a highlight, for your highlight!
