Beauty Bay Brush Haul...

In my opinion, good makeup is not only about good products, but also good brushes too. You can have the best quality eyeshadow palette on the market, but you need decent tools to ensure you get the most out of it too and that's exactly why I'm always up for trying and adding more into my collection. Not only that, but over time your brushes can start to become a little worse for wear and in need of replacing - and those two factors combined were exactly what inspired this haul right here!

I was mainly wanting to expand/replace my stash of Eye Brushes this time as those are what I have the more extensive collection of, naturally. Especially as the years go on, I use a lot of different brushes for my eyeshadow and I'm always up for trying something new, or simply upgrading some brushes after a while. And as soon as I saw that Beauty Bay had launched their very own collection a while ago, I knew they were gonna be the ones I gave a try next. And finally last week I decided it was time! They've actually got many a brush set available in their range, but I thought picking up a few of the same brushes separately would be the best bet and so far, I'm pretty excited!

So, what did I purchase? Well, I firstly really wanted a handful of flat brushes. I feel like out of my collection, this is the style of which I have the least of so when it comes to packing on shimmers onto the lid and really getting them super foiled and intense - I don't have the widest selection! So, I decided to pick up both the larger flat shader ('OG Shader' Shading Brush) and the smaller one ('Shade Out' Small Shading Brush) too - so I have the option both for something larger maybe when just using one shadow over the lid or when I haven't cut the crease and don't need something so accurate; or smaller for when I want to use more shades of shimmer in different areas of the lid, or have done something more detailed like a cut crease/halo eye and need precision! I also decided to pick up their 'Hide and Sleek' Concealer Brush too, as whilst this is supposedly for concealer, I also thought it could work equally well as a flat shadow brush too! This one is very similar shape and size-wise to the 'OG Shader', but is just slightly shorter. If in doubt, this could simply be another great option in my stash for cutting the crease too. Then, we have the 'Hey Shorty' Shadow Brush! This one I feel like could be handy in a few different ways. It's very short and dense, so could potentially be good for applying shadow to the lid. However, it's also more 'fluffy' than the previous brushes I've mentioned so I'm not sure. I'll give it a go! Perhaps it'd be more ideal for packing on mattes, rather than shimmers. If not, that's alright because the main reason I felt like adding this one to my stash was actually that it could be good for the lower lashline! Because it's so short and stubby and very 'flat' at the tip, I can see this one being just perfect for buffing out shadow against the lower lashes - being precise enough, whilst also smoking it out slightly at the same time. Fingers crossed!

Moving away from the lid and onto crease/outer corner shadow work - I decided to pick up not one, but two of the 'Blend It Out' Firm Blending Brush. When I spotted this brush, I instantly knew I had to add it to my collection. It was perhaps the style I was the most excited about as I feel like I've wanted something like this for ages and have never found it. Nowadays, more often than not I do my eyeshadow application in a much different order. Instead of starting with larger brushes and lighter colours, right now I love to take a small crease brush and pack on the deepest shade right from outer to inner corner before gradually taking larger brushes and lighter shades to buff and blend it out - and this brush looks just perfect for doing for that very first step. Small, fine and tapered - ideal for getting right in the crease of the eye! I actually decided to pick up two because I thought it'd be great to have one packing on the colour, with a clean one on standby to start blending it out or to apply the next slightly lighter shade! I feel like this brush style could even be great for the lower lashline, or the inner corner too! So many possibilities...

So, that's all for the Beauty Bay brushes I purchased, but whilst on the website I also decided to double up on a couple from Wet 'N' Wild that I already own and really enjoy using - so much I felt I needed another of! They are the Small Concealer Brush and the Crease Brush. Like I said, I already own one of each of these brushes and love them both so I figured, why not invest in duplicates? The former I really like for cutting my crease with eye base/concealer because it's so thin and flat in shape and has such a nice, slightly rounded tip; whilst the latter is a brilliant blending brush! Not too big, not too small, nice and fluffy and buffs away any harsh edges in no time at all. What more could you want?
