As you may know, it was my 22nd Birthday on Bank Holiday Monday and of course, I just had to do my makeup all nice and fancy for the occasion. I actually went 'out out' the Saturday night before - where I also did my makeup fancy-shamncy, just even more so because I was going out - but even then, I used a lot of the same products as I did on my actual birthday (mainly aside from the addition of false lashes), so I thought I'd share just what all of those were. Let's get into it...
Both times doing my makeup over my Birthday Weekend I started with my Eyes first - so let's begin there, shall we? I primed using my Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer in 'C1' and set it lightly into place using my Revolution Bake and Blot Pressed Powder in 'Translucent' - as I find this concealer works best as a base when set rather than used wet - and then began with my eyeshadow! For both looks, I used my Lottie London x Thuy Le 'Living My Best Life' Palette in some way - I think you all already know by now that I love this palette! It's quickly become one of my favourites. For my night out look, I used it more 'sparingly' - as in I used a selection of the matte shades only, as I knew I wanted to go in with something a little extra special after. I started by packing on the deepest brown 'Hey Guys!' into my crease with a small brush, from inner to outer corner; placing the slightly lighter warm brown 'Chickaterian' on a slightly larger brush just above it. I buffed and blended those two shades out and together with a super fluffy blending brush, adding a touch of the light vanilla matte 'Literally' just on the very edges to ensure there are no harsh lines. I went back in with each of these shades used (mainly the browns in the crease) to re-intensify and make sure the blend it just right and then ensured I took the deep brown 'Hey Guys!' onto the outer corner of my lid too, placing the lighter brown 'Chickaterian' just right next to it - so that my lid shade had something to blend into! And for that look, I decided to venture outside of the palette and bring something else into play. And that was the Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in 'Kitten Karma'! You may remember me picking this beauty up at the end of last year and basically ever since, it's become my go-to eye product for when I want something 'extra' for my lid. And, seeing as it's my birthday night out - why not? I simply applied a layer of this straight from the applicator, using it to almost cut my crease (the beauty of these is that they kind of do the cut crease and lid colour, at the same time) up to where it met the eyeshadow on my outer lid, gently buffed and blended out the edge between the two - and I was done!
Then, moving onto my Base, I started by priming using my Revolution Hydrate Primer - great for really hydrating and leaving your face lovely and glowy - which is especially perfect when following up with my foundation of choice, Revolution's Conceal and Define Foundation in 'F2'! I blended it all in with my usual, dampened Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, before applying my concealer of choice - the same Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer that I used to prime my eyes before! I applied this in all the usual places - under my eyes, on my chin and cheeks and any blemishes - using the same RT Sponge to buff and blend things in nicely. Once blended, I quickly set any genera areas with the same Revolution Bake and Blot Pressed Powder, before baking my under eyes, smile lines and any 'problem' areas using my usual Lottie London 'Ready, Set! Go' Translucent Loose Powder.
While I left that to 'bake' for a little while, I moved things along by doing my brows! And, as usual I used my current go-to duo - Primark's Skinny Brow Pencil in 'Brown' and 'Tan' to fill things in (the former, deeper colour for the majority of my brows; the latter, lighter shade for the very front) and the L'Oreal Brow Artiste Plumper in 'Medium/Dark' to set, add an extra tint of colour and some extra, much-needed fullness too! I then cleaned them up if needed using my favourite cream pot concealer - Rimmel's Lasting Finish Concealer in 'Porcelain'.
After this, I gently dusted off the 'bake' (a.k.a. any excess powder left behind) and moved onto finishing off my face! I contoured using my usual NYX Blush in 'Taupe', bronzed things up using my current fave, CYO's When the Sun Don't Shine Bronzer in 'Fair', before highlighting! In the end, I opted for one of my most-recent obsessions (geddit?) - Obsession's Mega Highlighter in 'Lightening' - and basically applied this anywhere and everywhere. I wanted to glow, yanno? Tops of the cheekbones, inner corners of the eyes, brow bone, Cupid's bow, gently above the brow and dusted onto the chin - I think you get the gist.
Then, finally we come to the Lips! Both times over my Birthday Weekend, I wanted to opt for a nude lip. I wanted the focus on my eyes and I also really wanted to not have to worry about things moving about - especially when going 'out out'! Both times I decided to go for a more brown-toned nude, so lined (and also most definitely over-lined) my lips using my favourite Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in 'Tiramisu'. I also slightly coloured my lips in using this too! Then, for my day out on my actual birthday, I chose to go for another favourite nude colours - the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in 'Mannequin', a light, brown-tone nude! Finally, I ensured I really locked things into place using a good dousing of my trusty, Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray and I was all done! Yay!
