As soon as I knew I could very luckily pick out a few more expensive/high-end makeup items for my Birthday last month, this palette was one of the first things that came to my mind. The BPerfect X Stacey-Marie Carnival Palette. I'd heard and seen so many amazing things - whether it be reviews, tutorials, swatches, you name it - and the colour story had always highly appealed to me, especially over the last year or so when I've really started to experiment with colour on my eyes a lot. However, the one thing that always held me back from trying it was the price-point. £40 is a lot for a palette, especially when you can get so many awesome palettes at the drugstore. But, when my Birthday came around and the chance came for me to try some more high-end items I'd had my eye on - I knew the time was now for me to give this gorgeous-looking palette a whirl...
I'd never actually heard of BPerfect before and only really came across the very talented Stacey-Marie through hearing so many things about this palette. I'd definitely suggest you follow her on Instagram if you're after some inspo! However, after hearing so many glowing reviews and high recommendations about this palette, I thought I'd be pretty safe in giving it a go. Over the last couple of weeks, I finally got round to opening it up for the first time. I was so excited to get started on this palette, but it's only in the last couple of weeks that I've had the chance to really get stuck into it - and let me tell you, was I so excited to do so. I had pretty high hopes - both from the glowing reviews and amazing looks I've seen created using it - and also, for £40, I was rather adamant that this palette must be good. I have £4 palettes that I adore and I feel work perfectly well, so surely this one must be just even better? Well, having now given it a thorough road-testing - I'd certainly say so. This is possibly the best eyeshadow palette I've ever used. Seriously.
Inside you've got a grand total of 24 shadows and 2 highlighters. The packaging, whilst simply just shiny cardboard-based, is nice and sturdy and not too bulky, considering how much you get inside. There's a good mix of mattes and shimmers (17 mattes and 7 shimmers, to be precise) and the colour scheme is just gorgeous. I really do love the choices for this palette - you've got nearly every colour you could ask for! Obviously, being a 'carnival' palette, you've got all of your rainbow colours - reds, pinks, oranges, yellows, blues, greens, purples, you name it - but aside from those gorgeous tones, you've also got some handy neutrals thrown in there too. Perfect for using alone to create more neutral, subdued or for pairing with some of the brighter inclusions to make some them more 'toned-down', if that's what ya fancy. I've just found this palette so widely versatile so far. I can create really bright, colourful looks (of all different colour varieties), something more neutral or a mix of both. I can do lovely monochromatic looks with all of the varying tones and finishes of all of the colour families, or pair different colour together to make something more 'rainbow'. And I can't wait to play around with this palette even more as I feel like I've really only touched the tip of iceberg in terms of the vast amount of looks you can create using it.
Talking of looks, I've done a lot of them so far (which you can find on my Instagram @DaintyDitsy if you fancy taking a look) and so far, as I mentioned earlier - I am in love with this palette. The mattes have a lovely creamy texture and are so super-pigmented and apply with such rich colour intensity, but not only that, they blend like an absolute dream. Like, seriously, they're perhaps the easiest shadows I've ever worked with. They just blend (both alone and when paired together) like no other shadows I've used before. I don't know what it is, it just seems to take no time at all to buff out any harsh edges and you're left with such a lovely, seamless finish too. It's also super-easy to fuse the colours together and when you do, the shadows don't go patchy at all either. Usually when blending shadows out, you need to go back in a few times and pack them back on, then blend again, pack and the blend once more to achieve the desired look but with this palette - that isn't the case at all. I might have to re-intensify after blending out the first time round, but aside from that, these shadows really do hold down in place on the lid and keep their pigment well. Then, we have the shimmers. Oh, the shimmers! They're so intense that I'd class them more as metallics. They almost glide onto the lid so rich in colour and shimmer, without even the need for applying with your finger or a dampened brush and give just such a pretty, really foiled effect. As I mentioned, both formulations can be layered together with no issues (whether that be blending different mattes together or layering different metallics on the lid) and all of the shades across both formulas that I've used so far have all performed just as amazing as the others before. There's no inconsistencies that I've come across, which is always the sign of an awesome eyeshadow palette, right? Like I said earlier, all of the colours just pair together so well too and you can really tell this is a well-thought-out palette in terms of the colour scheme.
As for the highlighters, you've got one lighter, more pink-toned colour and another slightly deeper, more golden tone included. As I expected, the former is just fine for my paler skin-tone and really does work beautifully. It's definitely not the most blinding, intense highlighter I've ever used, but it certainly adds a nice glow to the skin and can be easily built-up which is great too. It's also not chunky or glittery in anyway and just deposits a nice, smooth sheen - which is always a major tick-box for me in terms of highlighters. Also, I love the rosey undertone it has (as you probably know, I love pink-toned highlighters especially so at this time of year). Honestly, I really can't complain about it as I was mainly interested in this palette for the eyeshadows, so to have a good highlighter thrown in for good measure is always a bonus! They also both make for another two options for using on the eyes too, which I'll definitely have to try out at some point too. The second shade especially, whilst too deep for my skin, could make for a lovely bronzey lid shimmer. Oooh...
So, I think we've all gathered by now that I love, love, LOVE this palette - right? Well, that's not all though. If that wasn't enough, every look I've done so far using this palette has not only got a lot of compliments, it's also lasted impeccably throughout the day. There's no fading, crumbling, creasing - nothing. Everything stays looking basically as I applied it come the end of the day. There's a little bit of staining left behind after I've removed a few of the looks - but generally, that's what you come to expect from a lot of colourful shadows these days - especially as I think some of these are actually pressed pigments too. It's no big deal as I simply use a more oil-based remover and it takes a lot of it away and it usually only lasts until the next time I apply my makeup anyway! I'm more than happy to have a bit of light staining in return for such rich pigmentation and general high quality of a palette like this one...
