What Makes A Good Eyeshadow?

I love eyeshadow - especially powder shadows and palettes. And over time, I'd say I've come to realise just what makes a 'good' eyeshadow (whether a single or a palette) and what makes a perhaps not-so-good one, at least for me. I definitely have a few main criteria that I mentally tick off whenever I try a new single or palette for the first time and so, today I thought I'd share them with you all...

Mattes that are well-pigmented...
...But also fairly easy to blend and buff out!
When blending, they retain pigment and don't go patchy and if it's a palette, the shades layer well together too.
...However, if they do, it's easy to pack that colour back on and everything's good again!
*Hopefully* no (or at least, not too much) fall-out when using them on the face or kick-up in the pan itself!
Shimmers are intense and foiled-like. Preferably without the need for the use of a finger or dampened brush to apply, but as long as they have a nice, super-shimmery effect in the end, we should get on just fine!
The finished look you achieve stays looking that way all day or night long. No creasing, fading, smudging, transferring - nada.

So there have it - my main 'tick boxes' that I find myself always checking off whenever I sample a new powder shadow formula - whether that be a single, or most likely, a palette! Basically - they have to be very pigmented, blend well both alone and together, have a fairly creamy formula that doesn't crumble too much and really lock into place and stay looking just as they were first applied all day and night long! Not too much to ask for, right?
