Christmas Party Outfit Inspiration #DitsyDecember

It's not the festive season without a party (or five). And though they're super exciting, fun and something we all look forward too - then comes the task of finding something to wear! But really, it shouldn't be stressful at all and perhaps if you're struggling this year, these general ideas (and a few of my favourites that I found online linked too) might help you out...

A PRETTY PARTY DRESS - A good ol' party dress is the classic option we all tend to think of first, but finding the perfect one that's the right colour, length, style and material can be a tad tricky. Personally, when it comes to dresses I always go for Quiz. They have so many to choose from, no matter what colour you're after or style/length suits your shape or is your kinda thing and they're pretty reasonable price-wise too. I always tend to find that I can pick up my usual size and it'll always fit just right and personally, being a taller gal, I love their midi dresses as they come up just the right length on me (not too long, not too short) - perfect! Some of my favourites on the site right now have to be

JUMPSUITS - It's only in the past few years that I've really come to appreciate the power of a good jumpsuit for special occasions. I used to worry on my taller frame that they'd just make me look 'manly' and not too feminine, but I've actually found that if you pick the right one for you - they're both pretty and super-functional at the same time! I tend to go for a culotte style as I find it best flatters my frame and shape, but you can find some gorgeous full-length options too if that's more what you're after. Right now, I love the look of these...

JEANS AND A NICE TOP (THE CLASSIC) - Ah, the old faithful. I remember even years ago when I was a teenager and going to house parties (remember those?) - jeans and a nice top was always what I've go for. Me and my friends would even refer to it exactly in that way! And whilst it's not so much one I go for as much nowadays (I personally love going all out with fancy dresses and jumpsuits), no one can deny how handy the whole 'jeans and a nice top' idea can be when you're really in a rut or maybe if the occasion you're going to is less formal or fancy and you need something that's more 'smart-casual' - if you get what I mean. Personally if I go for this option I like to go for something more than just my everyday jeans in order to dress it up a little more (these days, I love a good pair of faux leather-look or coated jeans/leggings/jeggings/trousers as they just look a little more elevated) and New Look do a great selection for pretty great prices too - from these jeans here, here and here to these jeggings here! Then, when it comes to tops to pair with them - the options are virtually endless. And again, New Look have a really wide selection but also online stores like Boohoo and Missguided are pretty versatile (and affordable) too! From bodysuits to peplums, wrap tops to crop tops, camis to off the shoulders - just pick the right style for you (in the colour/pattern that fits your look) and you'll be good to go!

ACCESSORISE, ACCESSORISE, ACCESSORISE... - Perhaps my favourite and one of the most essential steps to a good party look in my opinion is to always accessorise! From getting a good matching bag and pair of heels to some gorgeous jewellery to really dress things up even more so - it can really help to change up and elevate your look. Especially if your look is perhaps a little more 'plain' or 'dressed down' and you want to add a little extra somethin' somethin'! In terms of accessorises overall (both jewellery and also clothing accessories like bags and shoes) I once again love New Look - mainly because they go up to my Size 9 shoe size and do some gorgeous bags and jewellery pieces too! I always love Primark jewellery (cheap but effective) and I also really love Lovisa - if there's a store near you - they're also pretty cheap but really pretty!

IF IN DOUBT - GO FOR GLITTER! - Finally, if you're really stuck - all things sparkly will not do you wrong this time of year! It's the festive season - if there's any time for glitter, it's now. So whether you're stuck on what outfit to wear or how to accessorise around it, go for something shimmery and eye-catching! It'll be instantly appropriate and almost does all of the work for you. Easy-peasy - now time to party!
