Polish Pick: Wedding Party Nails #DitsyDecember

This time last week was actually one of my closest friend's wedding day! And much like any special occasion, I of course did my nails all up! I was very much going for a 'berry' theme - my dress was a berry purple, I did a bold berry lip to match and I painted my nails using a concoction of purple-toned lacquers to match too! And with this falling right at the very end of last month and now with all of the goings on with #DitsyDecember, it's only now I've got a chance to show you just what combination I came up with...

I started things off with Maybelline's Super Stay Nail Polish in 'Divine Wine'. This was actually the colour I chose to use on my toenails for this occasion, so I figured it would make for the best base for my fingernails too! A gorgeous, deep, rich burgundy berry that complemented my dress and lipstick really well, in two coats it was fully opaque and good to go. And though I could have easily left things there, I don't think it's any surprise that I didn't. Because, I of course had to add the most important thing - glitter! I love sparkly nails all year round, no matter the occasion (or even if there's no actual occasion at all) and so I obviously had to throw one or two into the mix for this look too. And the lacquers in question were actually two brand new additions that I picked up especially with this occasion in mind. I actually found I was lacking slightly when it came to purple glittery polishes (it seems I either have cremes or metallics and that's about it) so I knew I needed to pick a couple up. Both from Barry M in their Glitter Nail Polish Range - I chose out 'Fashion Icon' - a blue-toned purple - and 'Socialite' - a more pinky-purple, fuchsia type shade. Both with mainly holographic glitter running through them - super pretty! I started off with a layer of 'Fashion Icon' as it was a slightly deeper shade, before finishing things off with a coat of 'Socialite' as it's a little brighter and more vivid and all in all, I was pretty pleased with the finished result! As the coloured bases of these glitter polishes are kind of sheer, they allowed for each other (and also the Maybelline base coat underneath) to shine through equally and just mesh together really nicely and as the glitter have just enough coverage, there was just the right amount of sparkle on the nails too! Topped of with my regular top coat to seal things into place and add a final shiny, gel-like effect and I was good to go...
