Sometimes, you just need some good ol' makeup inspo - especially right now, when things seem kinda bleak, bland and just kinda 'blah'. Whether it be for new (or new to me) products to test out, new techniques or just different looks - it can be such a good way to get my creative juices flowing. Over time, I've certainly nailed down my staple places I go to first off for this reason, so today I thought it was about time I shared them with you all...
- Blogs (of course!)... If I ever want some makeup inspiration - mainly for products to buy and try - Blogs are just great! I also love looking at blog posts for reviews or swatches of particular products. If I'm ever looking at buying a certain item in question, I'll typically search for blog posts containing it as you'll not only get really good quality photos that will often show the product/s more accurately than an online store, but they'll likely also be swatches included that'll depict the sort of shades and colour payoff you're likely to get and a review which will state whether they'd recommend it or not...
- YouTube videos. Similarly, if I ever want to find out more about a makeup product - YouTube is another place I will go to! And being video-based content this time, you can often get an even more accurate depiction - aswell as the opportunity to see how the product actually works, real-time! YouTube is also a great place to go for tutorials and getting inspo when it comes to makeup looks! Not only to see the finished look, but also how they're created - the products and techniques used and any tips and tricks along the way!
- Instagram, Instagram, Instagram! Instagram is such a great resource primarily for makeup looks. Seeing pictures of gorgeous makeup looks people have created is a pretty awesome way of getting your won creative juices flowing. And though it's only in static photo format, often you'll find people very handily include 'pictorials' where they photograph every stage they went through to get to the finished look - so you can easily find it to be educational as well as inspirational!
- ...And Social Media in general! To be honest, Social Media as a whole can be a real good source of makeup inspo. Unlike Instagram though, which is generally entirely photo-focused, other online outlets can incorporate more words and opinions too. You'll often see people asking for recommendations and others leaving their suggestions underneath - which can be a great way of sharing favourites - or maybe people just sharing products they'll loving (or maybe not-so-loving) outright and this of course can all be a way of getting inspiration!
- Browsing in-store... Want to try some new makeup products but not sure just as to what? Having a good ol' browse in-store is still a great way to discover new products. Obviously right now it's not physically possible, but for whenever it is again - I'd definitely recommend going out and doing it! Online shopping is fab and all that but there's something about actually going in a physical store and being able to see products in person, swatch them and compare them in 'real life' if you want to that remains just awesome!
- ...or on Online New-In sections! But, as I've said, online shopping is pretty much all we can do right now - and with it making this line-up, it's still obviously got its plus-points! You can explore the world of makeup all from the comfort of your own home, easily find reviews on the products you're interested in there and then (which can sometimes be a great way of easily and quickly determining whether you really want to make the purchase if you're struggling) and also search for more information - swatches, 'real-life' photos and so on - which can also sometimes really help you narrow things down.
