Why The Revolution Powder Matte Lipsticks Are So Awesome...

I can't believe I am yet to do an in-depth, focused post on these lippies yet! They are the Revolution Powder Matte Lipsticks and ever since discovering them back towards the end of last year, I am have been utterly obsessed. I started with the one shade and have slowly but surely added more to my stash - to the point now where I must own at least half of the collection! So, today, I wanna show you all of them that I own to this date and explain just why I adore them so much...

Though I've definitely come to appreciate a good lip gloss, I'm still a lover of a good matte lip at heart. Especially when it comes to bright, bold or deep lip colours - which I will only ever wear in a totally matte finish! So, the release of these lipsticks towards the end of 2019 certainly caught my eye. Also, with the festive season on its way, I was after a matte true red lipstick to wear to my Work's Christmas Party - so that was the shade I decided to try first. I picked up 'Fascination', a gorgeous true red that's not too bright, nor too deep and I loved it - so much so that in the end, it was indeed the lipstick I chose for my Work's Night Out! I just love the formula of these lipsticks. You know MAC Ruby Woo - that super, powdery matte formula and finish? These are pretty much exactly the same, just of course at a far more affordable price-point! They're so pigmented and fully opaque pretty much in one swipe, glide onto the lips with ease and never feel or look at all dry on the lips in anyway - but they also have that super matte finish at the same time! And just as the name suggests - when I say matte, I really do mean matte, matte. They're basically completely matte on the lips and as a result, are pretty much fully transfer-proof and stay virtually impeccably all day and night long. Once they're on, they require minimal-to-no touch ups (only ever after eating or drinking, which is honestly pretty usual for all lip products) and even then it's super easy to do so as they do not smudge or move around at all. Also, similar to the likes of MAC Ruby Woo, I love wearing these when I want a super matte lip, but don't want to use a matte liquid lipstick. Cause, sometimes even with the best formula, matte liquid lipsticks can still be a little on the dry side and they can also be a little more tricky to seamlessly reapply after eating or drinking, without creating lots of product build-up. These lipsticks though? A lot more comfortable and easy to touch-up - so especially perfect for longer makeup-wearing days or times when I know I'm likely be eating and drinking and needing to reapply more often!

So, we've talked about the formula - let's talk shades now! As I mentioned, I started off with just the one colour - 'Fascination' - but after falling in love with the formula, I've been steadily adding more colours ever since! I thought I'd try the brighter, more blue-based red 'Captivate' next, before also adding the shade 'Lust' to my collection too. I was looking for a super matte fuschia purple lipstick at the time for a Friend's Wedding Reception and this looked like a good option (and even though it wasn't the one I plumped for in the end, I still love this shade!). Then, I left it there for a little while - but as you might have seen in my March Favourites post, last month I added another three shades to my stash! And they were - 'Teddy' (a lovely mauve nude), 'Rosy' (a rich, dusky rose) and 'Flamingo' (a gorgeous, vibrant hot pink). I don't know what prompted me to pick these up, other than I think Superdrug had their 3 for 2 going at the time and these were the three shades left in the range that I still really wanted to pick up! So, I guess that's me done for now - unless they maybe add even more shades to the line-up. Who knows...
