Today I'm starting a week of posts I'm dubbing 'Makeup Brush Week', which pretty much does what it says on the tin. Three consecutive posts here on Dainty Ditsy all centred on the theme of the tools of us beauty fanatics' trade. Today's and Wednesday's posts will be all about my most used/favourite picks of my collection whilst on Friday I'll be filling you in on my brush cleaning routine. Sound good?
Introducing, my face brushes. Now, I'm not planning on talking through each and every brush I own, as at the moment the majority of my collection comprises of practically the whole Real Techniques range. I am looking into expanding my brush horizons at some point in the future, possibly looking at other more high end brush brands, but for now I'm pretty happy with the stash I've got. Instead I'm going to list the most treasured brushes I own - the ones I use on a regular basis and get the most use out of. My favourites of the bunch.
Now let's move onto the fun part - only me that gets excited by makeup brushes? Whilst I care about and value all of my brushes (you have to treat them like children yanno) there was always bound to be certain ones that rise above the rest and become staples in my daily makeup routine.
The buffing brush. I was originally an Expert Face kind of girl until this came into my
The multi-task brush. Now this, is a good'un. As the name would suggest, it's an all-rounder. I can powder with this, apply blush or bronzer, contour - you name it, this does it. It's shape reminds me of Expert Face in that it is more on the flatter side, making it a versatile essential in my makeup brush pot.
The setting brush. I think we all know of my love for this. If you don't - I'll link a post I did not long ago here which I dedicated entirely to this little beauty. In short, this is my tool of choice for anything that requires more precision work. Applying and/or setting concealer - check. Applying highlighter - check. Rescuing that area of your face which you may have gone a little heavy-handed on with the foundation - check. Before I found this brush, I deemed it to unnecessary. Now, I couldn't imagine my makeup routine without it.
The blush brush. Yes, I know we've already mentioned the multi-task brush which I said to be great for applying blush but believe it or not we've actually got yet another face-rescuer on our hands here. This brush is brilliant for blending out contour and preventing a case of stripy-orange-face syndrome, whether you've gone overboard or just want the little amount you've applied to be even more seamless.
The flat foundation brush. A final favourite of mine - and one which may be surprising. I, probably like many others, do not use this brush for its actual named purpose. I like this for packing the pigment face-wise. Say I've got a spot or blemish that's a stubborn blighter and will not cover up no matter what I do, this is when this brush will come in. It's brilliant for piling on the concealer in pinpoint areas and loading up the coverage.
Don't forget to check back Wednesday and Friday for two more #MakeupBrushWeek posts on my top eye brushes and then how I go about cleaning the darn things...
The setting brush and blush brush may just need to be added to my collection lol x
ReplyDeleteI'd definitely recommend both to anyone! All the RT's are such good brushes, really good quality and for such a reasonable price too! X
