In The Nude (Lip) For Valentine's Day

With it being the big V-Day tomorrow, a day typically centred on love, you may or may not be thinking about your makeup look. Whether you're going out with your boyfriend for a romantic meal or with your girly mates for a night on the tiles (I know the latter's far more likely for me *hears first bars of 'Single Ladies*), today I'm giving the goss on three of my top nude lips. Emphasis on nude, as most likely there'll be people who'll think 'But surely red is more appropriate?', but as cringey and sickly as it sounds - Valentine's is all about kissing, right? Let me introduce you to some of my top mess-free lip options...

Firstly, we have a tinted lip balm. Think of this as your starting point, of course nude lips are pretty ground-level anyway, but if you really want things to be uber-subtle - a slick of lip balm will keeps things looking pretty and hydrated should a kissing opportunity arise. One of my faves is the Maybelline Baby Lips in 'Peach Kiss' - a nice, subtle sweep of peach with a yummy fruity scent sure to make your pout taste as good as it looks...

Next, slightly higher on the 'Nude Lips Radar', is the classic nude lipgloss. A little more shinier and pigmented than a balm but still not too in-yer-face. One of my favourites is the Maybelline Colour Sensational Shine Gloss in 'Cashmere Rose' (I promise not all my nude lip loves are from this brand - purely a coincidence - apologies). A shiny but not at all sticky formula, these glosses literally glide onto your lips, last a good amount of time before need of reapplication and this colour especially is perfect for that pinky-peachy lip look. Another one (and from a different brand this time - yay!), if you're fancying something with a little more in pigment would be the Tanya Burr Lipgloss in 'Chic', which again is another perfect 'MLBB' shade, pretty similar in to the Maybelline but with a little more beef to it.

Finally, reaching the top level of nude lips would be the nude lipstick. Of course still very barely-there based, but giving you the opportunity to amp things up as usually this is where things can get a little more heavy (in a good way). Of course there is also the option to go more matte here too, but whilst I personally like my bold lips more on the dry side of things, when it comes to nudes I can be a little more flexible in the formula department and actually find wetter finishes to look more flattering and the sheer colour means you don't have to worry about the maintenance that you do with the bolds. One of my faves has to be the L'Oreal Colour Riche Collection Exclusive Nudes Lipstick in 'J Lo's Nude'. I find this to be the perfect 'mix of everything' nude that flatters my skintone perfectly and with a lovely finish that just gives off a natural sheen to the lips - nothing too matte nor too glossy to be seen here. I also particularly like this collection of lipsticks as if this one doesn't personally float your boat, they have a whole range which should cater for everyone, so if you can bypass the slightly funky smell which I personally don't mind but many others do - this one's sure to be a winner. Better get puckering up ready for tomorrow...
