It's that time again for me to talk one of my favourite beauty brands for one entire post, giving you the lowdown on five of my top products from their range as we go. If you've missed any of the other posts in this style, I will link them up here for you to go and have a peruse if you fancy it. It's Beauty Brand Favourites, the Bourjois Edition...
Healthy Mix Foundation - I'm sure you've all already heard me rabbit on about this one a hundred times over so I'll attempt to keep this short and sweet. This has to be one of my fave foundations I've sampled from the drugstore territory. As the name would suggest, it gives the skin a lovely, healthy appearance and manages to sit just right on the 'dewy-ness scale' in that it brings the glow without the grease and for that I am obviously grateful. The coverage is just how I like it to - sort of middle of the road, perhaps leaning more on the 'light' side than 'heavy' - and everything else just sits so beautifully on top of it. Massive love right there for this stuff.
Delice De Poudre Bronzing Powder - More face-related stuff and this time it's what has to most likely be the Bourjois classic item - it is of course their bronzer that looks like a chocolate bar. So many people have talked and raved about this in the past so again I will try and keep things brief as I am no exception. Yes, it is warm and yes it perhaps isn't the best contouring option I've ever tried, but with a duo-fibre brush (to pick up less pigment and so give a more subtle, natural effect which you can build up more gradually) I find this to work really well as just a standard, traditional bronzer. The colour adds a gorgeous sun-kissed glow without the awful dread of 'muddy-ness' and the formulation is creamy and easy to blend out.
Colourband 2-in-1 Eyeshadow and Liner - This one is more of a recent find, as you would've already seen if you read this New In At The Drugstore post from a few months back in the Spring. The makeup world's gone absolutely cray cray for the whole 'eyeshadow stick' thang - with practically every single brand you can think of bringing out their own take on them. Some have done well, others perhaps not so - but these have to be one of my personal favourites. My main bugbear usually with these type of things is that more often than not, they can be rather more dry than creamy as you would expect - so the whole thing can turn into a bit of a palaver of you trying to desperately blend something effectively as creamy as a standard powder shadow. Not with these, though. They are so super-creamy and easy to work with and I find myself reaching for them just as much as I do my traditional cream shadows in pot-form (which I typically prefer as they usually are much softer). Also, the shade range is just all kinds of dreamy - there is literally every colour you would ever need/want in there. Mmmm.
Colourboost Lip Crayons (Not pictured here as I cannot for the life of me find my favourite shade anywhere and it's probably somewhere in the depths of one of my handbags as we speak - that's how much I love it right there.) - Moving onto the lip department, and again a recent craze in the makeup world - lip crayons. Again, some releases have been successes, other more failures - but these definitely fall into the first category. They're what I like to refer to as a 'gloss stick' in that they're certainly not like some of the other formulations released by other brands (for example the Maybelline Colour Drama's) which are more on the matte, longer-lasting side of things - these, on the other hand, are almost a lipstick and lip gloss blended into one handy crayon format. This makes them uber-comfortable and easy to apply on-the-go and also look super-lovely in the Summer months - especially my personal favourite shade, 'Peach On The Beach' (a.k.a. one of the nicest coral lip products I've ever owned). Yes, the wear-time may not be the greatest ever, but hey - we are talking lip products here and I think the colour selection more than makes up for that.
Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks - Finally, and whilst I certainly do not aim to write these posts in any kind of particular ranking order, I think I may've just left the best till last here. Again, these have kinda become a cult item in the beauty community of late - everyone raves about how good they are and can certainly see why. While the above lip product perhaps caters more to those on the lookout for something with some shine and gloss to it, if matte lips (particularly of the bold variety) are more of your thang then I think I may just have the ticket. These are liquid lipsticks, but do not be fooled, as once applied they dry down just like *that* to a matte finish and let me tell you - they do. not. budge. While matte, they still feel so weightless on the lips and most importantly, are not drying in any way and sit beautifully without clinging to any parched areas on your pout. The only piece of advice I will give though is... I've personally only sampled the bolds from the range so far, and from what I've heard these are the best out of bunch so I'd perhaps give the more nude hues a miss this time round.
And that just about concludes my top five favourites from Bourjois! Have you got any others from the brand you'd like to add to my list? Anything else I need to give a go? Let me know...
