Why The Primers From Rimmel Absolutely Rock...

I have to admit to not having the greatest experience with primers. Sure, I know a fair bit about them and can happily pick one out that is likely to suit my skin and do the best job for me - but personally, I tend to find one I like and just stick exclusively to it. I also don't necessarily wear a primer everyday anyway, so this too contributes to me generally testing out less. This is where the ones from Rimmel come in. I genuinely believe I have found two of my ultimate faves from their offerings, and here's why I have not been looking elsewhere since...

You've probably already heard me bleating on about this one already as it's featured a fair bit since I got it sometime earlier this year (even in a post here, not too dissimilar from this one). Introducing, the Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer. I first heard about this on a few blog post/YouTube videos a while back and, liking the sound of what it offered, picked it up one day in Boots and I am super-happy I did. As I've said before, it's completely different to any primers I'd tried before it - such as Benefit's POREfessional - which even out the skin by filling in any cracks and crevasses with their silicone-like texture, giving a more airbrushed appearance to the face and helping makeup stay around longer as a result. This, however, could not be more opposite. Rimmel offers a primer which feels more like a moisturiser in formula. It applies just like your standard day cream would and you'd be forgiven for getting the to mixed up. It's easy to slap on and blend in and feels entirely comfortable - sinking in and disappearing just like a lotion as opposed to sitting on top of your face ala the POREfessional. There is some tackiness left behind which I don't really mind, as for me it just ensures that it will actually do its job of keeping your makeup in place. Because of the creamy formula though, it leaves behind that extra dose of glowiness too, bringing the sheen without the glitter that the formulas typically geared towards giving dewiness are laden with.

Next up is the one I'm currently using and loving - this time the Rimmel Fix and Perfect Pro Primer. This I actually got as part of an offer in Boots a while back where if you spent a certain amount you got a free tube of this stuff. Once I finally started to use it after my Lasting Finish Primer conked out, I have to say it has to be up there with one of the best freebies I've ever got. Like the above, it has a similar moisturiser-like feel to it, though this time it feels slightly more silicone-like in texture. To me, it's almost like if the POREfessional and Lasting Finish had a primer baby - this would be it. It has the creamy properties of Rimmel's but perhaps with less of the glowy finish and the slight slip you get from Benefit's but without the sitting-on-top-of-the-skin feeling - combining together to make a primer with what I feel has the best qualities of the both.

So I guess what I'm saying is - in need of a new primer which doesn't carry such a hefty price tag as some of the other, more high-end options out there? Go check out Rimmel - you won't regret it, seriously...
