A Guide To False Lashes #DitsyDecember

Just like gold eyes and a red lip, false lashes really seem to come into their own during the festive season. Of course for many gals (or guys) they're a staple all-year round - heck, even I've found myself finally getting the whole hype behind them these past few months - but for some reason, it seems everyone wants to jump on that bandwagon as soon as December is here, whether you're a lash regular of a complete newbie to it all. That's exactly why for today's post I'd compile a few of my personal faves in the faux lash arena. Fancy giving them a go for the first time or simply want some inspiration for your next pair? Read on...

A slight disclaimer - Yes, you may well notice that these all come from two very blogger-centric brands. This is in no way some kind of intentional shout-out, I just genuinely love both of them as brands in general, and especially for their faux lash offerings. Now, let's get into it!

THE INDIVIDUALS - Kicking things off with Tanya Burr's range, her individual lashes are perfect for when you want to just add 'something' to your natural lashes but don't want to fully commit to the standard strip lashes such as the ones mentioned later. These come in short, medium and long lengths (I tend to use more of the former two sizes as opposed to the longer ones which on me can look a little too dramatic and over the top) and the ends are feathered to ensure they blend in well with your own. When placed correctly, as close to the natural vein of your lashes as possible, these look super-natural yet noticeable at the same time and very fluttery indeed. Pweety!

THE SIMPLE LASH - If you want to upgrade slightly from the Individuals but still want to keeps things fairly subtle, this pair from Fleur De Force's collaboration with Eylure are your best bet in my opinion. These are the 'Simply Fleur' lashes from her collection of four (another of which is coming up next in this post) and as the name would suggest, they are a standard lash with an equal length all the way round - which once applied gives a very doll-like look to your eyes. They're enhanced with 'soft-tip' technology which makes them very akin to your own lashes and while they are stated as being 'ideal for day-time wear', I also think these a gorgeous set to wear on the night-time as they give all the benefits of a full false lash but without being too 'out there'.

THE THREE QUARTER LASH - If you want things to look a little more winged-out, these lashes are where it's at. These are 'Fleur Loves' from the Fleur De Force x Eylure range and they're a three-quarter lash, meaning they focus more on the volume of the outer section of your eye and make the eyes look far more feline - perfect for pairing with a cat flick liner. Again, they are made to mimic the natural composition of your own lashes with feathered tips and this pair in particular look even more natural once applied as they have a slightly messy look to them, with the individual lashes crossing over one another slightly. Love, love, LOVE.

THE 'ALL OUT' LASH - Finally, and back to the Tanya Burr Cosmetics collection - these are her 'Date Night' lashes. While Tanya herself states these as being fairly natural and subtle, I find these on myself to be rather more dramatic and 'out there', so I'm instead dubbing these the ideal 'Full On' False Lash. The lashes themselves have a fair bit of length to them and so give a lot of volume and lift to the eyes (I think that's why I found them more out there than I imagined), but once applied they do look very pretty and are still very comfortable to wear. So perhaps if you're after something more subtle - the other three I mentioned above are more suitable, but if you really want to push the boat out and give your makeup look a whole lot more drama and glamour - these are a fab pair to go for.

  1. I love how the full set of TB ones don't have a thick band. Very easy to blend in with your own lashes :)
