How To Get Over A Big Night Out #DitsyDecember

We've all been there. Had too many of your favourite tipple(s) last night and woken up feeling anything other than fresh 'n' ready to face the day ahead. With December now in full swing - the month notorious for being very party-central - I thought I'd give a little rundown of some of my tips of how to get over the night before...

  1. Relax. Of course unless you have actual reasons behind getting out of that bed and heading out the door the following morning, don't. Or at least for a little while. Take some time to yourself to get over your muzzy head and/or icky feeling in your stomach and do whatever you feel you need to do to make yourself feel better. Put on a favourite film or crappy TV programme, or even just lay on the sofa and read that book you've currently got on the go.
  2. Use some kick-ass products to awaken yourself and get feeling tip-top again. For this I'd suggest anything containing citrus, as of course this'll be the most refreshing and feel as if it's doing its job the quickest. For bath or shower lovers alike I'd point you in the direction of Original Source - their lemon/lime scents sure do their thing early in the morning.
  3. Hair-wise, again it's all down to the personal preference and schedules. I like to wash mine every other day, so of course depending on what day this fell on and how lucky I was, I'd either have to force myself to wash it or be able to leave it completely alone. If yours is in need of a clean, again keep it simple and just do the job of washing it without any added steps if you can to minimise the time spent upside down over the bath. Try instead to add in more steps after you've washed your hair.  After you've washed and combed it through, add in some heat-protect and leave-in conditioner, dry and call it a day. Get yo pineapple on. Or, if all else fails - crack out the dry shampoo...
  4. Then, it's up to your whether you want to focus purely on skincare, or fancy facing the task of makeup as well. For skincare, I'd recommend anything that promises 'glow' and will add the vitality back into your skin and get it looking more 'normal' again. I'd also recommend a good eye cream as usually that area is where any signs of ill-health is likely to make an appearance first. For makeup I'd again keep things simple, but effective. Skip the fancy eyeshadow and winged liner here, and go straight to the 'no makeup, makeup'. If you can, a bit of concealer around the eyes, nose and any blemishes; some brow touching-up; a nude liner in your lower waterline to cancel out any redness there and lashings of mascara to make you look more awake should do the trick nicely.
  5. Then, try and get some fresh air. I know what I said at the beginning of this post might contradict, but in fact, after carrying out all of the steps above, you may just feel human enough again to venture outside. Good luck!
