I seem to see these kinds of posts and videos crop up on the Blogging/YouTube world on a pretty regular basis, and yet I don't think I've ever put my two cents in and done my own version. If you haven't heard of this format before, I'm basically gonna be talking you through ten of my favourite beauty products that all clock in a tenner or less. I also fancied being a little more specific so today I'm kicking things off with an edition all centred around Makeup. Let's get started...
COLLECTION PRIMED AND READY REVIVING AND ANTI-FATIGUE ILLUMINATING PRIMERS - Starting off with the first stages of makeup, I have a bargainous primer. You may've been expecting one from Rimmel to crop up in a post of this type, but as of late the only one I've had in my current rotation that I've been really enjoying is this one from Collection. These don't feel silicone-y like some primers I've used in the past - instead they simply feel like a moisturiser in texture and feel super hydrating on my skin. They really do add a nice dose of radiance to the complexion, but without being loaded with glitter or shimmer and provide a nice 'lit from within' glow. They also do what a primer should typically do and aid the application of my makeup and help keep it locked down for the whole day. Love, love, LOVE.
BOURJOIS HEALTHY MIX FOUNDATION - I wanted to include a foundation in this post, but it was kind of a toughie for me to pin down at first. In my heart of hearts, the Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Foundation is my ultimate favourite - but they actually seem to have discontinued it as I cannot find it anywhere in-store on online? Boo! So, instead I have gone with my close second - the Healthy Mix by Bourjois. This is a real classic base and I feel like everyone and their Nan has tried and loves this, myself included. It applies and blends like a dream, with a good medium coverage, nice skin-like finish and good lasting power. Personally, I feel like it's got everything I look for in a foundation - all rolled into one. Plus, it seems pretty darn good too (not that it's a particularly essential quality, but still).
RIMMEL MATCH PERFECTION CONCEALER - Now, I could have easily gave yet another shout-out to my beloved Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer here as I love it and it's been my favourite for what feels like forever - but I haven't. Instead, I've gone with more of a new favourite, but one which I think will be a love of mine for a very long time (I'm a poet and I didn't know it). The packaging is different (this come with a handy brush applicator), but the formula is very similar. A nice thick-but-not-too-thick consistency with good coverage and the ability to be utilised everywhere and anywhere on the face. Bags, blemishes, redness - the lot. If anything, recently I've actually been preferring Rimmel's as the thick texture is parred down slightly and so it blends out easier under my eyes and the formula feels far more hydrating. Controversial - I know, I know.
SOAP AND GLORY SOLAR POWDER BRONZER - Something which was always bound to be mentioned in a post like this is this bronzer from Soap and Glory. I first got into using this I think around the start of last year and I haven't really touched another bronzer (or at least found one I love as much) since. You know the deal by now - two shades (one more honey-toned and the other more of a terracotta), swirl them together and you get the perfect bronzer for paler complexion like myself. It's pretty much matte (the lighter toned shade has the faintest of glimmer running through it, but it's hardly detectable on the skin) and it's warm but still with a slight ashy undertone, so could be used for contouring as well as bronzing if you fancied it.
MAYBELLINE THE NUDES EYESHADOW PALETTE - Eyes-wise, out of all the palettes available to buy from the more affordable brands - it just has to be this one from Maybelline for me. Scrapping in at just under the £10 mark, inside you get twelve hues which are all neutral-based and so great for us gals and guys out there who are rather partial to those kinds of shades. The shade selection ranges from super-natural colours, all the way up to deeper tones - enabling you to create a whole host of different eyeshadow looks for day or night. The pigmentation is insanely good (you barely need any to give a great colour payoff), they apply and blend amazingly well and they last and last and last. If you're in the market for an awesome palette at an equally-awesome price - you know what to do...
SOAP AND GLORY SUPERCAT EYELINER - There were a few eyeliners of various formulations which I was flicking between including in this post, but whenever I don a cat flick, it's this eyeliner which I turn to so it made sense for it to get a shout-out. Following a period of time where I didn't touch the stuff, over the past year or so I've had a bit of a resurgence with liquid liner and this was the product which firmly reignited my love for it and has been the only one I've relied on ever since. The felt tip set-up makes it fairly quick and easy to create a wing and the nib itself is just the right size so you can either go fairly thin with your line or build it up to be more dramatic. The formula's super intensely black and lasts all day long without smudging or transferring and I've had mine for a while now and it's still going strong.
L'OREAL TELESCOPIC MASCARA - Again, another perhaps surprise inclusion considering how much love I've proclaimed in the past for the mascaras by Maybelline - but as of late I've been trying this one out and it's safe to say, it's love. The plastic wand doesn't look like it'd do much at all as it's straight and thin with barely any 'bristles' on it; but it actually manages to completely transform my lashes. I don't know how it does it - but it does. The wand infact makes it really easy to get right in at the root of the lashes and right into the inner and outer corners of the eyes, making sure you get every single one. This is a great offering for length and gives the lashes a super-fluttery look, though it does pretty well on the volume front too.
L'OREAL LES LIP LINER COUTURE BY COLOUR RICHE IN 'BEIGE A NU' - Finally, we're talking lips and I love this lip liner from L'Oréal. You may remember me being all kinds of obsessed with another of their nude-toned liners a while back, until they sadly discontinued it and I had to go on the hunt for its replacement. Luckily, I managed to find a close dupe within the same brand and I have to say I love it just as much, if not more. This is the perfect match for my natural lip colour - just a tad pinkier. It's got a slight brown undertone to it, but it's not a completely straight-up chocolate hue and I find this works with pretty much every nude lippie I own...
RIMMEL LASTING FINISH BY KATE NUDE LIPSTICK IN '45' - ...Including this one right here. You all know this by now, I'm sure. Ever since the range was first launched last year (I think) and I discovered this shade, it's been by far the nude lipstick I've worn the most - so much so I've almost run it completely down to a tiny nub. Again, this matches up to the natural hue of my pout almost identically, though this time it gives more of a wash of mauve. It looks slightly Kylie Jenner-inspired - but not overly so - and there's the slightest touch of shimmer running through it which (thankfully) simply makes the lips appear a tad fuller and juicer without being that noticeable. As always, if you're yet to try this out - give it a go, pronto.
Got to love budget products!
