June: The Love List

I don't quite know how, but we're at the end of June and we're halfway through 2017. Already, I know. I cannot quite believe it but nevertheless, I am here today, ready to run you lovely lot through all of my faves from the past few weeks. As always, these are all of the things I have been obsessed with throughout the month and seeing as we are at another quarter point in the year, in Friday's post I will be bringing back 'The Lust List' for June, where I'll be talking through all of the things I've been lusting over trying and buying recently aswell. But for now, let's jump into everything I've been going all heart-eyed emoji over as of late...
SOAP AND GLORY 'MAKE YOURSELF YOUTHFUL' SUNSHIELD SUPERFLUID SPF50+ - Skincare-wise, this has been a firm favourite of mine these past few weeks, with me discovering it back at the very start of the month. With the UK recently experiencing a bit of a heatwave - and Summer just generally seemingly kicking in - I wanted to start using a proper, standalone facial SPF and after a long search and peruse round the Internet, I cam across this one and ever since - it's been love. This stuff is super light and not at all heavy on the skin, doesn't disrupt any makeup I apply over the top and never, ever leaves any white cast behind either. All in all, it just gets the job done without causing any havoc in my typical routine and for that, I am very thankful for. Check out my full review here for more details.

SIMPLE REGENERATION AGE RESISTING DAY CREAM SPF15 - In terms of day creams, I picked up this one to try from Simple this month and again, I have been super impressed with it. I have tired some moisturisers from Simple in the past, but never this one (nor anything from this 'Age Resisting' range in general) and so I was still intrigued as to how well I'd get along with it but thankfully, I find it to work like a dream. You only need a tiny amount (definitely much less than the standard pump amount) and it applies easily, sinks in quickly and hydrates my skin without leaving things oily or greasy. What more could you want, eh?

COLLECTION LASTING PERFECTION COLOUR CORRECTORS -  If you're regular round these parts, you'll already know of my deep love (seriously) for the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. It is my ultimate, all-time favourite concealer and is so affordable too and so when I saw that the brand was coming out with colour correctors under the same 'Lasting Perfection' format, I was intrigued and very, very eager to give them a go. This month, I finally did - as part of my latest 'New In At The Drugstore' post here - and I am super impressed with them. Of the three available, I picked up the 'Lemon' (for those pesky, bluey-purple under eye bags) and the 'Green' (for any redness) and both do the job at cancelling out those unwanted tones like a dream. The formula is identical to the original concealer - creamy, super blendable, high coverage and lasts all day long - and they manage to nail that balance of having enough pigment to them to cancel things out, but it can still then be covered over with your foundation and regular concealer later on so you're not left looking a tad strange. Winner!

COLLECTION EYES UNCOVERED MATTE NUDE ROSE EYESHADOW PALETTE - Finally from good ol' Collection, this month I have been obsessed with another of their newest drops - a matte version of their 'Nude Rose' Eyeshadow Palette. That one was launched a while back and while I am a big fan of it and use it regularly, I was very excited to see the brand was launching a shimmer-free variety. I love a good matte eyeshadow either all-over or for adding some shape and definition to the crease and outer corner and so to have this available is awesome. I love using it either on its own for a completely matte look or combining it with the original to get the best of both worlds and both ways it works like a dream. Every single shade is replicated - just in matte formula - and so there's everything from your classic light taupe to a baby pink, bright orange and a couple of purple-y tones thrown in for good measure too. It's a nice way of adding some fun, Summer colour to your look and the shadows, considering the pricepoint, are creamy, well-pigmented and easy to buff and blend out.

L'OREAL INFALLIBLE EYE PAINTS - Talking of eyeshadow, another new launch to the drugstore (that I mentioned in that same aforementioned post that I linked above) are these liquid eyeshadow paints from L'Oreal. While I do love powder shadows, I also really appreciate the magic of a good cream or liquid format and with those types of products being fairly low on the ground in the likes of Boots and Superdrug, I was pleased to see these being added to the line-up. Cream shadows aren't as much of a rarity, but liquids definitely are and so these more than stand out from the crowd - in a good way, that is. There's a tonne of colours and I love the convenience of being able to quite literally paint your eyeshadow on using the handy doe-foot before smudging it out using a brush or even your finger. As always with creams/liquids, not only do these work great alone for an easy wash of colour, they're also awesome as a first step before going in with you powders to help act as a base and intensify

BARRY M MATTE ME UP LIP KIT IN 'BLOWOUT' - Liquid lipsticks have been a staple in my stash for what feels like forever now (although it's probably actually only about a year or so) and nowadays, there's not many times that you'll not see me wearing one. I love the super-matte finish, the ease of application and most of all - the lasting power. Of all the formulas I've tried, the ones from Barry M have to be one of my top favourites and so when I spotted a new shade of their popular Lip Kit set-up (a matte liquid lip paint plus matching lip liner) - I knew I had to pick it up. This is a gorgeous deep, purpley-mauve that's not too dissimilar to the likes of Tanya Burr Cosmetics' 'Martha Moo' (that I was obsessed with not too long ago) and I just love the look of these types of colours. They're nude, but with more of a colourful twist than a 'traditional' browny-pink neutral and add a pop of somethin' somethin', but still in a wearable way and this shade is no different. I really rather love it.

DOVE DERMASPA SUMMER REVIVED LIGHT-MEDIUM GRADUAL SELF TAN - Moving onto all things Bodycare, again - with Summer finally making an appearance - I have been looking at getting that slight touch of tan on again and as always, wanted to stick with those of the gradual variety. I always tend to get on with those formulas well and find them to be a great option for adding colour but in a controllable, natural way and this time, I fancied trying something new. I'd heard good things in the past about the Dove one and so picked it up to give a whirl and I am very pleased I did. It's technically a cream, but has a more gel-like, watery texture that glides on easily and just seems to sink in like a dream. If I apply this before bed, I can easily get between the sheets not long afterwards and the next morning, I wake up with a nice, gradual colour that's not too dark, too obvious, not at all orange-y and best of all - streak-free. Once again, this stuff ticks every box and it's a pretty reasonable price too.

THE WET BRUSH - Last, but certainly not least - The Wet Brush. I have been after trying this for so, so long and this month I finally bit the bullet and it's turned out to be a pretty darn good decision. A very much appreciated birthday voucher for good ol' Boots combined with a pretty good deal on at the time in-store meant I got it practically for 'free' and I am so glad to finally have a hairbrush that I actually like and actually works. This glides through my hair - both wet and dry - and detangles without snagging or pulling at my hair at all. It makes my hair feel super-smooth and sleek and the paddle style means I can get through all of my tresses in no time at all. You must never underestimate the power of a good hairbrush...

MAYBELLINE MASTER FIXER MAKEUP CORRECTING PEN - This is a completely new type of product that I don't think I've ever seen before but I fancied giving it a go and I'm pretty glad I did. As the name suggests, this is a makeup correcting pen that you use almost like the opposite of a pen - simply draw over the areas that you've made a mistake to erase it. I was hesitant as to how well i'd get along with it as realistically, there is a limit to how you can use this effectively as obviously, if you try and remove anything that's been applied over the top of something else - it will remove both (e.g. eyeliner over eyeshadow) but one way which I have really been enjoying using it for has been when I'm doing my eyes first and want to clean up the outer edge of my eyeliner wing. Of course, there's nothing but bare skin underneath any errors I want to erase so I'm not ruining the rest of my makeup and it's a great way of cleaning things up and getting things all nice and sharp before going in with my base makeup. It's quick, easy, precise and also smells pretty good too (always a bonus).

BARRY M COCONUT INFUSION NAIL PAINTS IN 'FLIP FLOP' AND 'POPSICLE' - Nails-wise, with the UK experiencing a bit of heatwave these past couple of weeks, i have been well and truly cracking out the colourful, bright, bold nail colours and loving it. I have had great experience with the 'Coconut Infusion' range from Barry M in the past so figured I'd pick up a couple of the new shades for this Spring/Summer and I have been all kinds of obsessed with both of them. 'Popsicle' is a stunning, deep, raspberry pink that looks very classy and elegant; whilst 'Flip Flop' is a very 'in yer face'-type fluorescent orange that's super out there - but I love it. Both are fully opaque in one-two coats and both have a super shiny finish that lasts fairly well too. Affordable and awesome - they really do tick all of the boxes.
