I'm not going on any holidays this year (boo!) but if I was - what would be I be taking makeup-wise? I love finding out what other people plan on taking in their travel makeup bags and so I figured, despite the lack of vacation, I'd join in. Let's get started (hypothetically)...
Primer-wise, I have been loving the new Maybelline Superstay 24HR for smoothing things out and helping keeping things in place all day long and while I have been experimenting a little more with my foundation choices lately, I feel like I would still have to go with my Bourjois Healthy Mix in '51' as it is my tried and true that I can always rely on - no matter what. Concealer - again I have to go with my holy grail that deals with bags, blemishes and any redness too - and that is of course my Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 'Fair' and Powder-wise, I would have to take my Collection Primed and Ready Invisible Setting Powder for setting the majority of my face and the Rimmel Match Perfection Silky Loose Powder in 'Translucent' for 'baking' my under-eyes and smile lines if I want to really lock things down, brighten things up and just generally go more glam. Sounds kinda 'extra' and just a little 'OTT', but I have really been noticing a difference when I 'bake' - especially under my eyes - so I feel it's a step I'd like to have the option to do if I felt like it.
For finishing off the face, for if I felt like contouring (sometimes I do, sometimes I don't) - I would take the new Tanya Burr Cosmetics Contour Stick in 'Light/Medium'. I don't tend to enjoy using cream contour, but for holidays I always tend to gravitate towards them and this one has really impressed me recently. Easy to apply, super quick and easy to blend and has a lovely 'not too ashy, not too warm' colouring that sculpts, but doesn't look at all muddy. It also lasts all day long too (even without adding a powder contour over the top). To add some much-needed warmth to the skin, the Essence Sun Club Matt Bronzing Powder for Lighter Skin has become a firm favourite of mine lately - and it's a bargain too - and while I have many a highlighter I could choose (whether powder, cream or liquid), right now I'd have to go with the Tanya Burr Illuminating Powder in 'Champagne Sorbet'. Again, this is a new release to Tanya's range and I am in. love. with it. It is the perfect - you guessed it - champagne tone that is ideal for my fair skin and delivers a super bangin', blinding glow. Oohh yeah. Super finely-milled and sits on the skin so nicely too. It's a winner - especially since it's fought all of the rest of of my glow-givers in my stash to the top spot in my *hypothetical* travel makeup bag...
Eyes-wise - and this is where it gets kinda tough. I don't know about you lovely lot, but when it comes to narrowing things down, it's always in the eye department where things get kinda sticky. One thing I do know I would be fo' sho' taking is the Urban Decay Primer Potion. This thing comes with me wherever I go as it is an essential step of my eye makeup routine for aiding application, longevity and - most importantly - stopping any creasing from happening. Obviously, Brows would also be taken care of with the Maybelline Master Precise Brow Pencil in 'Dark Brown' (to fill them in) and the Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel in '02 Browny Brows' (to set, tint and add extra fullness) as I have pretty recently started pairing them together and they have since become my go-to combination for getting my brows super full and well-defined and locked in place all day long. As for palettes, I feel like I could choose from tonnes here (as I'm sure of you fellow #EyeshadowPalettesObessors can well understand) but, after a long, hard think - and you best believe that it was a super long and hard think - I have gone for the Makeup Revolution Flawless 3 Resurrection Palette. Now, this may not be the smallest and most compact palette out there, but it's got pretty much every neutral eyeshadow colour I'd need (including my current favourite reds, oranges, purples and pinks) and I know that in a holiday situ - neutral shadows are what I'd want. These shadows are super pigmented, blendable and last all day and ads I said - I have every colour I'd need on an everyday basis and so I feel this would be the perfect palette for the occasion. Then, for getting those wings super black and #OnFleek, I'd have to pack my current go-to which is the NYX Epic Ink Liner and for mascara, I wold opt for - again, my current fave - and that is the bargainous and brilliant Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara. This stuff is cheap as chips and yet deliver on all front when it comes to what you want in a mascara. Amazing.
Finally - Lips. Again, this is an area where I could feel a tad tempted to go all out and pack about twenty lip colours, formulas and set-ups but I feel like the most important thing you want to do is cover all basis' in as little products as possible and so - here we go. For a Nude (no, not that kind of Nude) I would go for the Tanya Burr Cosmetics Lipstick in 'Bear Hug' as it's comfortable to wear; is highly pigmented and has a satin finish that doesn't dry out your lips like a liquid matte would (the whole reason I wouldn't opt for a nude liquid lip for a holiday) but doesn't move about too much either. I also want to throw a Pink in there somewhere for a pop of colour and some added fun and so, for that I would go for a liquid lip as it lasts all day and locks the colour in place where you need it to stay all daylong and my personal favourite is the Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream in 'French Fancy'. A gorgeous, bight, candy pink that's super flattering to wear with a lovely, powdery matte finish that is transfer-proof and does. not. budge. Finally - you never know when you need a classic red and, again, I want to stick to the liquid matte formula as it'll keep my colour where I've placed it and that is an utter essential - especially if you're going on holiday. I have a few in my collection that I love equally but recently, I have been fully obsessed with the Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour in 'Firecracker' and so I guess that would be the one I'd throw in my makeup bag if I was indeed going on holiday. Again, this dries down to a fully matte finish and so doesn't go anywhere until you say so and I love the rich, but not too deep red colour of this in particular. As i said, you cannot go wrong with a good, classic red lip...
So, that's exactly what I'd be taking if I was going on holiday this year! If you are actually going away at some point soon (or have done already) - what are you planning on taking makeup-wise, or have taken already? Or, if you're like me - what do you think would make its way into your travel makeup bag if you had the chance to fly away for a much-needed escape? Let me know...
