6 Weird Things About This Time Of Year... #DitsyDecember

It's the week between Christmas and New Year. Christmas Eve/Day and Boxing Day are all over and done with, but's it's not fully the time to start celebrating the New Year just yet. It's a bit of a strange, 'in the middle'-type time of year where we all feel like we're in some sort of limbo - so what better than to do a post in the last few days of this year's #DitsyDecember centered round exactly that? Here are some rather weird things (namely, six) about this time of year right now...
  1. IS IT STILL CHRISTMAS OR IS IT NEW YEARS? Like, technically, we even is this week between one big event and another called? Can we still classify it as some type of Christmas hangover, or should we start gearing towards New Years? In the end, I think we all know it's basically neither and instead, we've been left hanging in this strange period of nothing-ness until December 31st.
  2. WHAT DAY IS IT? Overall, I feel a common theme of this time of year is just generally, what actual day is it? With most of us perhaps being off work, or maybe having different or reduced hours - I think a lot of us struggle to actually know where the hell we are in the week. Is it a Monday? Cause it kinda feels like a Tuesday. Or maybe it's Wednesday? But then you realise it's actually Thursday and your mind is totally blown. All in all, it's a pretty mind-boggling period of time.
  3. WHAT DO I DO NOW? We know we should probably be productive and actually get on with something. But, in the end, we all know we'll end up just sitting around in our lounge-wear chilling out, watching TV or films and eating and drinking all of the ah-mazing festive food and drinks.
  4. EVERYTHING IS DIFFERENT. I think part of the reason why we all feel so 'up in the air' and in some sort of no man's land is that everything is different. Shops are all open at different times, transport is running at completely different times than usual and to top it all off - the TV schedule is slightly bizarre too. I mean, it's all very much #FirstWorldProblem, I know, but it's still very annoying and confusing nevertheless.
  5. EATING AND DRINKING. It's that strange time off year where you're torn between wanting to fully go back to your normal diet and get back on that whole #HealthyEating train and also wanting to kind of stuff yourself with all of the amazing leftovers from the days before. And then there comes the drinking - welcome to that week where it still feels totally acceptable to be on some form of alcoholic beverage from basically the time you wake up, to when you go to bed - as you did over the last few days. Baileys at two in the afternoon? Yes please.
  6. NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS. If you're extra-organised, you'll probably be wanting to start them right now, but you know you can't cause that'd kinda defeat the whole #NewYearNewMe thing that everyone loves (but really kinda hates) and you really want to be able to fully turn over a new leaf come January 1st. Cause, what's the point of changing now, right?
