Another week, another awesome release from Revolution Beauty (a.k.a. Makeup Revolution). Do they ever slow down? I don't think so, at least not yet - and I'm certainly not at all complaining about it. After the launch of the pretty-darn-amazing SophDoesNails collaboration last September (of which you can find my review of here), we finally have another YouTuber-related collaboration on our hands - this time round, Tammi from 'Makeup By Tammi'. Like Soph, Tammi was added to the social media team at Revolution early on last year and that was actually exactly how I discovered her channel - and I have really enjoyed it ever since. So, when I saw she was, like Soph, releasing her own eyeshadow palette, I instantly had to check it out and after seeing it, instantly added it to my basket on Revolution Beauty. A week or so later, it arrived and I've been giving it a good ol' testing out ever since (after taking some blog photos first, of course). Let's discuss my thoughts...
First off, let's talk packaging. Some may say it's not particularly high up priority-wise when talking about an eyeshadow palette, but you can't deny it's pretty darn gorgeous, can you? Sticking to the exotic, 'tropical paradise' theme, the outer casing has a super-pretty sunset printed on the front, with all of the details and Tammi's signature (much like Soph's palettes). embossed in rose gold metallic. Once you get inside, you're left with the palette itself, which is equally pretty, with its metallic rose gold top and exact same details, this time printed in shiny black lettering. All in all, it's rather lovely to look at, but of course, the main thing when reviewing an eyeshadow palette - or I suppose any makeup product in general - is what's inside, and the quality of it too. Opening it up, inside you get a really large, high-definition mirror (again, like Soph's eyeshadow palette) which is always handy, particularly if you want to do your makeup on-the-go or need to travel with the palette and then right opposite, obviously, you have the exciting part - the shades! Inside Tammi's palette, you get 23 different shades - with mattes and shimmers and a really large and diverse selection of colours too. The palette is laid out differently to Soph's, with two rows of longer, rectangular-shaped pans and also a final bottom row of three different transition shades for all skin-tones. Tammi said herself that while this palette has been predominantly designed as her own perfect palette, as a woman of colour - and so, perfect for all of the deeper guys and gals out there - it's just as perfect for medium to light to fair and everything in-between, which is awesome. Then, to complete the palette, you get another nine matte shades, plus a grand total of 11 shimmers - so all in all, a really good mix between the two formulas. As the name of the palette implies, all of the colours inside are inspired by the exotic, tropical vibe which Tammi chose to reflect her home country in the Granada and I must say, the palette as a whole is pretty darn gorgeous - with everything from everyday neutrals to stunning pops of colour. The colour line-up definitely swayed me in making a purchase, there were even a few colours which I looked totally unique to anything in my current collection. Yes, really!
But we all know the proof really is in the pudding - you gotta give it a go, right? I've actually used this a fair few times now and Tammi really wasn't wrong when she said her palette can be used to create basically any type of eye look. From the rainbow selection of colours inside to the varying mattes and shimmer textures - the possibilities are virtually endless. So far, I've experimented with colour using shades such as that gorgeous bright, yellow-gold and some of the matte purples, pinks and reds; while then also totally managing to create something more subtle and 'natural' using the matte browns and either the more neutral bronze or light champagne shimmer to add some sparkle on the lid. And that's only in the first few uses - honestly, I haven't even scratched the surface in terms of all of the various colour combinations you could pair together from this palette. And, what's even better - the quality is awesome. Each and every shade I've tried so far is so super-pigmented, blends like an utter dream and has little-to-no fall out. Probably due to this palette being firstly designed for all of the women and men of colour out there, the shades are so rich in colour and vibrant on the eyes, without requiring tonnes of product or building up. There's a little kick-back in the pan when picking the shadows up, but once applied there's no noticeable fall-down that needs to be swept away - all of the pigment really clings to the skin well. The mattes are creamy and not at all dusty, the shimmers so intense and foiled-looking without even spritzing the brush after picking them up or applying with your ring finger - although one of those methods can certainly be employed if you really want even more intense pigment. The shades combine together so nicely, allowing you to mix them together, layer them up and things never appear muddy or 'dirty'-looking - which is really great when you want to create more elaborate looks - and once everything's applied and done, there is no fall-down, fading or creasing all. day. long. I always use an eye primer every single day, no matter what products I'm using or look I'm doing, but still sometimes there can be issues and thankfully, this palette does not fall under that category. Yay! I'm so looking forward to experimenting and just playing around with it even more so - I think I may just have found my new favourite eyeshadow palette. Revolution have done is once again - massive congrats to them and the lovely Tammi, this really is an awesome collaboration...
