A New Brush Cleaner Fave?

You probably know by now that in terms of cleaning my makeup brushes, I generally have my favourites locked down. Admittedly, last year I discovered a new spot cleaning fave for my eye brushes - Primark's Blend and Cleanse Makeup Brush Cleaning Spray - but as for 'proper', deep cleaning my face brushes, I've stuck to one product, Dr Bronner's Magic Soap, for years. Like, literal years. However, when my last bottle ran out not too long ago, I finally fancied switching things up and trying something new - and then I remembered this product. A few years ago, Real Techniques launched their Deep Cleansing Gel and though I was initially intrigued, I stuck with my old fave for the time being. But, as soon as I knew I wanted to try out something new - this was the first product I went to. But, what do I actually think of it now I've given it a go? Let's find out...

I put it right to the test, giving basically near my entire brush collection a good deep cleaning and so far, I'm pretty happy! I actually really like how, compared to my usual fave, this one doesn't have any particularly strong scent, but yet still gives your brushes that nice, 'clean' fragrance, if you get what I mean? But, aside from that, of course the one main thing we all look for when it comes to a makeup brush cleanser - is whether it actually does what it says on the tin and effectively cleans your brushes. And honestly, this one definitely ticks that box, in my opinion. I simply squeeze a small dollop onto my fave brush cleaning tool - the Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette - place my brush under lukewarm running water to fully dampen it and then swirl it in the product-filled palette and in no time at all, my brush is being cleansed of any makeup residue and just any general dirt or grime (yum). I continue to rinse my brush under the water in the palette until the water runs clear, to ensure the brush is fully clean and of course any cleansing gel is completely rinsed out too, before gently squeezing the excess water out and leaving it to dry on a side towel overnight! The next day, all of my brushes were fully dry and ready to use again and the bristles felt so super-soft too. You could see they were all completely clean and looking brand new again and they'd all retained their shape nicely aswell. As I said earlier, the gel left behind such a nice, subtle 'clean' fragrance and they all work as normal too - which is of course, exactly what you want! Overall, I'm pretty happy with this new find of mine - I think I'll be continuing to use this for deep cleaning my brushes for a long time to come...
