I never really wear icy, white tones on my nails. Nudes, yes; but whites? Never really something I go for. However, when last dong my nails, I decided to layer up a few old favourites and ended up with something very frosty indeed. And you know, I kinda love it...
I started with a couple of coats of the Barry M Under The Sea Nail Paint in 'Jellyfish'. A super-pretty, purple-y blue duo-chrome that just looks so different depending on how the light catches it and I love the smooth, creamy metallic finish - very 'sea-themed' indeed! It's a pretty sheer formula, but two coats builds it up enough to semi-full opacity and to be honest, I knew I was about to apply more polishes over the top, so I wasn't too fussed if it wasn't full-full coverage. So, next up I added a layer of my Maybelline Color Show Fairy Spell Nail Polish in 'Unicorn Addiction'. I really love this polish. A clear base with fine holographic shimmer running through it - it makes for the perfect glitter topcoat for when you want things to have an interesting, duo-chrome kinda shift. And that's exactly what I did this time, layering some over 'Jellyfish' to give it even more of a multi-tonal look. Then, I was kinda tempted to then finish things off there, but in the end I opted to add a finishing coat of the Barry M Glitter Nail Paint in 'Pure Sunshine'. I guess I just wanted to add even more sparkle to the situation and also, whilst I love a good touch of holo, I kinda wanted to tone it down a little and just giving the glittery-ness we've got going on a little more of a warmer finish - and this was exactly the polish I needed. This icy gold, full of both finer and larger glitter, worked over the top like a dream and all in all, I really love this finished look!
