The Palette That Other People Changed My Mind About...

I've had so many eyeshadow palettes backed up in my 'New In/To Try' drawer of my Makeup Collection for so long. I already had some that I'd collected up, then my Birthday came along and I was lucky enough to receive the BPerfect X Stacey Marie Carnival Palette. Naturally, I was so excited that it instantly overtook them all in terms of what I was going to try out next and I finally got round to trying it out throughout last month (and, Spoiler Alert - I bloomin' love it). However, now I've given that one a through road-test, I felt it was only right I got on with trying to make my way through all of the other new palettes I have stacked up - this one being the very first!

Introducing, the Revolution Forever Flawless Palette in 'Decadent'. This range of eyeshadow palettes actually launched a good few months ago now. I liked the look of them all, but it was the more 'neutral', warm-toned palette that caught my eye for a change! Recently, I've been all about the bright, bold, colourful palettes but I fancied switching things up and picking up something from the neutral side - hence why I plumped for this palette. Then, it kind of just sat in my 'New In Makeup' drawer for way too long - as I said at the start of this post! But, now I feel it's time to get through some of the stuff I had ready and waiting to try again - and this palette was the first thing that caught my attention. So for the past week or so, I've been giving it a go and as the title may suggest, my thoughts are a little bit mixed. The very first time I tried it out, I have to admit I was a little on the fence. The shades were gorgeous, the pigmentation of the mattes I used was great and they also blended really well - but, almost so well that I felt they all blended together into one shade. I also felt like I had to build up the shimmers I used on the lid quite a bit to get the super-shiny, reflective effect I wanted. I was still really happy with how the look came out, but I just felt I had to work for it a little more than usual and it was a little different to usual. However, as with all new palettes I try, I always take into account that you need some time to familiarise yourself with it. You have to get to know what application method works best, what brushes may work best and so on. Basically, I always try to never fully judge a palette based on just my first go - so I was happy to continue testing it out to gather my overall thoughts.

However, despite my initial reservations, I actually seemed to get a lot of compliments on my eyeshadow that day. From customers at work, people I work with, my Parents all seemed to really like it. And in fact, the more I looked at my eyes myself, I started to think about whether this palette was as 'bad' as I first thought it was. Actually, every time I used it again over the following days - and as I said earlier, began to learn how the shadows and colours work best - I started to really rather enjoy it and come to see how great it really is. I've definitely come to realise that overall when it comes to the mattes, to get the best pigmentation and finish, you want to be starting off with the deepest shade you plan on using and then blending things out with progressively lighter shades. Yanno, the whole 'backwards blending' technique that's possibly more popular these days (and that I tend to use it a lot more myself too)! Sue, if you start with something lighter or mid-toned and then move onto your deeper colours, it'll apply and work just fine - you may just find what I found out, that the shades will kind of blend together into one shade and create an overall softer effect with less definition and 'drama'. Then, as for the shimmers, I've actually found them to be more and more impressive the more of them that I've tried. There's certainly ones in there which are more shimmery and intense than others which is great and you can easily build up those that aren't so much well if you use the right brush and take a little time to pack the pigment on! All in all, every shade I've used (and I've managed to use nearly every one so far) has been pretty consistent in terms of pigmentation and formula - so I guess, this review has ended on a much better note than what I was thinking it would after that first try! So perhaps if you're after a really nice palette packed full of gorgeous warm-toned neutrals, check this one out...
