I have many, many eyeshadow palettes and whilst I love and use them all and love trying new palettes aswell - if there's one I find myself coming back to time and time again if I just need an old favourite that I know and love or perhaps if I don't have any new palettes to try at that time, it'll usually be the Revolution X Soph Extra Spice. This awesome drugstore find is not only super-affordable at only £10, it's also just awesome quality-wise too. A great colour selection, great formula of both mattes and shimmers, beautiful packaging - what's not to love? Let's talk about what I think makes it so great...
- Easy, convenient packaging! I know it's not the main thing we all look for in a good eyeshadow palette (it's definitely all about what's inside of course after all) but in terms of good packaging - I'd certainly say this one ticks that box well. Slim, lightweight, a decent size that's pretty travel-friendly but still big enough to get a good amount of shades inside and with a super big, good quality mirror inside too!
- A great shade selection. For me, the thing that usually sells me a palette from the offset is a bangin' shade selection. Whether it be the individual shades included alone or the whole combination which I vibe with - it's pretty important - and this palette has always been one that I just love when it comes to that. From the very first time I saw it online, right up to now whenever I open it up I always think to myself - 'This palette is just on point with the shade selection'! It's just one of those palettes that I find instantly inspiring not only to recreate looks, but create entirely new ones too. And that's surely the sign of a good palette, right?
- Endless amount of looks! Talking of looks, I really feel like this palette has endless amounts of looks you can create from it. Like, I've had this palette in my stash for over a year now and still find myself coming up with new and different looks! And like I said, it's the sort of palette that whenever I open it, I really want to come up with shade combinations, styles or shapes and I just love that. Cause, not only are you already getting a bargain with the palette being only £10, you're also very much getting your money's worth with the various looks you're getting too...
- It's super-versatile! You know I said this palette has a great shade selection? Well, not only is it really inspiring to create new looks, it also makes it really versatile. Want a neutral look? Easy-peasy. Want something more warm-toned? Good to go. Want a more colourful look? You've got plenty of pops of colour thrown in to enable you to do just that! I feel like you can get everything from a super 'natural' look to a full-beat glam to a super bright and bold colourful look and everything in-between. Of course, this one palette won't do everything eyeshadow-wise, but it definitely has a good go!
- Great quality shadows. Like I said before, the main thing we all want in a good eyeshadow palette (after a great shade selection of course) is typically great quality shadows and this palette right here has that down to a tee. The mattes are all really creamy, apply super pigmented, blend like a dream and combine together easily and the shimmers apply really intensely too - even with just a flat brush, without dampening it or using your fingertip! For such an affordable palette and considering the sometimes lower quality you can get for a similar price from other palettes/brands - that sure ain't bad. Like, I always feel so good with how my looks using this palette come out and never really feel like it looks like they're from a drugstore palette...
- It just keeps on going. I have used, abused and just generally loves this palette basically ever since I got it over a year ago and whilst I've made bit pan in four shades and made pretty hefty dents in plenty others - it's still going strong! Not broken shades and none are completely used up - yet. But you just know that once even just one does, I'll have to buy myself a brand new one. I just can't be without my beloved Soph Extra Spice...
