Hello, my name's April and I'm a matte lip addict. But if you've read round these parts before, I'm sure you know that already. It's no secret that I love a good matte lip - especially, a matte liquid lipstick. So much so, that it got to a point where I'd only wear matte lipsticks or matte liquid lipsticks. However, a few months ago that kinda changed. Don't worry, I'm still all about a matte lip a lot of the time (especially so when it comes to bolder, brighter colours when I only ever wear a matte finish) but I definitely have come to appreciate the power of a good ol' gloss again when I'm wanting to wear a more nude/neutral colour. So, I thought today I'd share some of my favourites I've come across - whether they be old favourites I've tried and loved in the past, or more recent ones I've picked up after reigniting my love for gloss once more...
I HEART REVOLUTION CHOCOLATE LIP GLOSS IN 'SALTED CARAMEL' - This was possibly the gloss that honestly kicked off my appreciation for lip gloss again. I remember when this range launched back towards the start of this year and everyone began raving about them - this shade in particular. Not only did they supposedly smell good enough to eat (Spoiler Alert - they indeed do smell amazing), but I was heating pretty great things about the formula too. And you know what? This has to be one of the best lip glosses I've tried. The mid-toned brown is just light enough to work as a perfect nude shade for me and it's got this pink undertone to it that makes it so flattering and easy to wear both alone or as a topper for variety of different lip colours! The formula is super shiny, yet so lightweight and almost 'balmy' feeling on the lips - not sticky or 'goopy' at all (which is usually the main thing when looking for a good gloss, right?)
BARRY M THAT'S SWELL LIP PLUMPING GLOSSES - These are some other glosses I started trying more recently and have been really enjoying. They're completely clear this time so are even more versatile - whether you want to apply them alone or use them as a lip 'topper' - and similarly to he Revolution, are so super shiny and reflective, yet at the same time so thin and lightweight and comfortable feeling on the pout too. They're both plumping glosses aswell, so after a minute or so of applying you start to feel a little tingling that supposedly makes your lips fuller in appearance. Whether they do that or not, I'm not sure, but glosses generally do lend themselves to making your lips looking more on the full side - so that can;t be a bad thing...
FENTY LIP GLOSS IN 'FENTY GLOW' - This one has received so much intense, raving hype ever since it launched last year (I think?) and having recently finally given it a go myself - I can certainly see why. This deep (but not too deep), rosey-brown is just ideal as a slightly darker (but only slightly so) nude for me and not only that, there's fine golden shimmer running through too - which I love! It's not chunky or overly noticeable though, don't worry - just enough to make your lips look even more juicy, dimensional and plump! The formula, just as everyone says, is really awesome too. So thin that it almost feels and applies more so like a lip oil (it's not at all greasy though), it's so comfortable and easy to wear yet so intensely shiny and glossy. Yes, this gloss really is as good as everyone claims it to be...
NYX BUTTER GLOSS IN 'TIRAMUSU' - Finally - a classic, a NYX lipgloss! Remember 'back in the day' when everyone would rave on and on about these? NYX really were the one to go for when you wanted a lipgloss - and whilst I may be about a thousand years too late to the party, recently I picked up one to give a go myself and I can certainly see what all the fuss is about!
