Ever since discovering her from a SophDoesNails video, MakeMeUpMissa has fast become one of my favourite makeup channels to watch. Not only is she insanely talented, she also really does have a knack for recommending awesome (and also usually very affordable) makeup products. So much so that by this point, I've got a good handful (or maybe even handfuls) of products that I've either seen her use in one of her tutorials or just generally recommend on her channel and as a result, bought to try out for myself - and typically, I am never left disappointed. So today, I thought I'd compile my top five favourites of everything I've tried because of Missa together to hopefully help share the love even more. But before we begin, if you somehow haven't heard of Missa before, please go and subscribe to her YouTube here and take a look at her Instagram here - you won't regret it!
REVOLUTION PRO SKIN FINISH POWDER IN 'OPALESCENT' - First up - the main favourite of them all I think - is of course this skin finish powder. Missa has raved about this for ages and after a while, I finally picked it up - and haven't looked back since. This is like a mix between a pressed powder and a highlighter and whilst it won't set your makeup, it will add a gorgeous all-over glow to the skin. You can use it as a highlighter if you're a fan of a more subtle glow (#CantRelate) but personally I just love taking it on a big fluffy brush and lightly dusting it all over my face if I want to really get my glow on or maybe feel my skin's looking a little too dull/matte and I want to add some life and healthy-ness to it again. This shade works perfectly for my paler skin (it's mainly white-based but also marbled with some darker gold and copper tones to give it a little more depth and stop it coming off ashy). It works like a treat every time and I give full credit to Missa for getting me onto it!
MUA BRONZED MATTE BRONZER IN '100' - I love finding a new, awesome matte bronzer - especially from the drugstore, because they can be a little hard to find, though it does seem to be gradually getting easier as these new-ish ones from MUA were brought to my attention not too long ago by Missa. I knew I had to give the same shade she loves a go (we're of a similar skin-tone, so I was pretty sure it'd work well) and so far, I really like it. It's matte, but doesn't make the skin look flat and the texture is really creamy. It applies and blends onto the skin evenly and seamlessly and it's just nicely pigmented enough for a bronzer. You know, you want it to show up, but not too much at once so that you can't control it, right? The colour and tone is perfect for me - warm, but not orangey and just deep enough to add enough warmth for my paler skin-tone. What's not to love?
OBSESSION MEGA HIGHLIGHTER IN 'LIGHTNING' - This is not one of my favourite highlighters in my collection and again, I might not have even tried it if I didn't hear Missa raving about it! It's only £3 (bargain!) and yet the formula and shade is worth way more than that in my opinion. I am super glad it is so affordable though of course! An icy white highlighter with gold veining, mixed together this creates a spot-on highlighter tone for me. Bright and icy, but not too cool-toned or ashy - perfect! The formula is so creamy and pigmented (a little goes a super long way) and it just blends onto the skin so seamlessly. Though very intense and blinding, it's not got any chunky glitter or shimmer - it just looks sheen-ey on the skin and I love it!
REVOLUTION PRO SUPREME HIGHLIGHTER PALETTE IN 'ICE' - A highlighter palette which I bought because of Missa is this one right here from Revolution Pro. The light champagne gold shade in the middle especially I remember her raving on and on about and eventually, I caved - and I'm pretty glad I did. The middle shade really is gorgeous - not only shade-wise, but formula-wise too. So creamy, glides onto the skin and looks so intense and blinding, yet smooth and non-chunky at the same time. The other two shades - one more pink toned and the other more blue-toned - are nice too, but I think the middle colour is what I love and adore the most...
TECHNIC THE GLITZ LIQUID GLITTER EYESHADOW IN 'GOLD' - I love all things liquid glitter - and it seems Missa does too as she's mentioned a fair few on her channel before - but this one from Technic always stuck in my mind. And when I saw it in a store, in person a while ago - I knew I had to try it. And so far, it's quickly become one of my new go-to's for liquid glitter. Simply take some on a small detailer brush and lightly pat over wherever you want it to be on the lid, leave to set for a few seconds and it's foolproof. Doesn't flake off, move or crease an stays looking just as sparkly as you applied it all day and night long. This shade is such a gorgeous warm, rich, yellow-toned gold too - just perfect for this time of year!
LOTTIE LONDON X THUYLE 'LIVING MY BEST LIFE' PALETTE - I have a few eyeshadow palettes that I've bought and tried because of Missa but the one that really sticks out to me is this one from Lottie London. And let me tell you - this is an awesome palette. It's under a tenner and yet both the shades inside and quality of them are so, so good! The mattes are super creamy, pigmented and easy to blend; whilst the shimmers are really quite intense and almost foiled-like on the lid, even without a damp brush or use of a fingertip to apply! I love the colour scheme and the way its set up - you've got a top row of all shimmers which range from your neutrals to some rosey tones and a few pops of blue and green on the end and then you've got a bottom row of all mattes which are all quite neutral-based and so complement and work with all of the sparkly offerings up top! It's quick and easy to create a solid look and every time, I'm happy with how my eyeshadow comes out so this palette just had to get a spot in this line-up...
REVOLUTION X CARMI 'MAKE MAGIC' PALETTE - Another palette that I'd eyed up for a while but finally bought because of Missa's review is this one right here. I'd seen so many people using and reviewing this palette and honestly, I was edging closer and closer to picking it up - but it's only really after seeing Missa use it in such a lovely look and hearing her say how good it was that I decided to go for it. And I really do love it! The top row are almost like cream-to-powder shades that are just so gorgeous (especially the pink/purple/brown multi-chrome on the far right!) and the main bulk of 'normal' shimmers and also mattes are pretty lovely too. The colour scheme is kinda unique to anything else I own and I've created some really nice looks using it so far.
SO SU GLAM LASHES IN 'DUBAI' - These lashes are amazing! I love getting others' lash recommendations and when Missa said these were some of her faves - and they were only £5 from Primark - I couldn't help picking up a set from my local store. I had to hunt around for them a bit but I finally found them and I haven't looked back since! These are now some of my most-used lashes. They're so full, fluffy and almost like faux-mink and they're super long (but not too long) and also go slightly longer at the outer corners - which is usually what I always go for and love in my false lashes! I'm so happy Missa got me onto these - I'm still on my first pair (as they clean up and last so well too) but I've already bought myself a new pair for when they do need replacing!
JEFFREE STAR COSMETICS VELOUR LIQUID LIPSTICKS - Lipstick-wise, I had to mention these liquid lipsticks. I definitely knew and had been thinking of trying a shade or two from these for a while, but again, I think hearing and seeing Missa using and loving hers kinda gave me that final push I needed to give them a go! And oh boy, they really are as good as everyone (not just Missa) says they are. Super thin and lightweight formula that feels like virtually nothing on the lips yet apply fully opaque in one layer, quickly dry down to a super-matte finish and last all day long. They're so matte, yet don't feel uncomfortable or make your lips look dry at all and every shade I've tried so far has been as good as the ones before. Yay!
MUA INTENSE COLOUR LIP LINERS - Finally, these lip liners just had to get a mention. They're £1.50 each (again, utter bargain!), they come in basically any and every shade you could ever want or need in a lip liner - from nudes to pinks, reds to purples and so on - and they're massive. Like, you get such a good amount of product for your money with these - and they're so cheap anyway that it just makes them even better value for money! Normally you see longer lip liners at more expensive brands like MAC and I know Missa herself has even said the formula of the MUA ones compares closely to MAC too. They're so pigmented and creamy, making them glide on easily but they still have that slight waxy-ness to them which allows for complete control to get that precise, sharp application and also means they really stay in place all day/night long. I'm so glad these were brought to my attention and as a result, my makeup collection. Thank you Missa!
